“What exactly are we betting?” I ask.

“I bet that before the week’s up, you’ll be kissing me.”

“Deal!” I hold my hand out for him to shake. “I bet you a thousand dollars that it will never happen.”

He reaches for my hand, but instead of shaking it, he kisses the top of it. A tingle radiates from the spot where his lips connected. If only those lips didn’t spout such obnoxiousness, I’d want them somewhere else.” The good news is that I’ll be going on a shopping spree.

“And if I win…” He gives me that crooked smile again. “You’re mine for a night. No rules. No resistance. Only complete compliance. You have to obey my every request.”

His voice has shifted even lower, and the playful look in his eyes has turned serious. Those amber flames are burning hotter—the heat reflecting in my body. If feels like I’ve just been placed in the oven on broil.

“Damn, I can’t wait to win.” His head shakes. “I bet you’ll scream for me.”

I’m suddenly snapped from whatever little spell he had me under for a moment. He can smooth talk me all he wants and try to ensnare me with those eyes, but I will not break.

“I can’t wait to go shopping with my winnings.” I smile fondly, thinking of all the things that have been on my wish list. “There are so many things I’ve been wanting.”

“I promise you, baby. My tongue between your legs will be so much better than anything you could possibly buy at a store.”

And that’s my cue. It’s time for my shower. A cold one.

Preacher

Cage should’ve chosen someone else for this job. Here I am playing babysitter to Payton, but all I can think about is that roommate of hers. That girl has a noose around my balls, and every time she looks at me, it pulls tighter. I can’t wait until we’re done here at the stables so I can get back to their apartment for another sparring match. Flirting with her… watching those cheeks turn red and those eyes go from narrowed and dark, to round with shock, to soft and wanting… It makes me crave her so fucking bad.

“You ready, Preach?”

I look up from the bale of hay I was staring at and see Payton waiting on me. She must be done for the day.

“Yeah, I’m ready.” Been ready since we left the apartment this morning. I wanted to see Chassie off to work, make her cheeks red as she drank her coffee, but we had to leave before she was even up.

I fold myself into Payton’s car, feeling like my knees are crunched up to my chest. These little sporty things were not made for a man of my size. At six-four, I barely fit in the thing. It’s like puttin’ me in a match car.

“Sorry I smell like horse shit,” she says. That makes her and me both.

I gave her a hand cleaning the stalls and feeding the horses. Then while she was out running the horses in the pasture, I was oiling up the leather saddles. The stench saturating my clothes is like oiled-down manure. It’s fucking rank.

“I don’t smell much better, doll.”

She laughs, shaking her head.

“You can use Chassie’s shower when we get back. She won’t be home until five thirty.”

Five thirty. That’s two more hours. Never been so anxious to see someone in my life. Not even the presents under the tree on Christmas morning had me this excited.

“What’s her deal anyway?” I ask, doing my best to sound nonchalant. “How do you two know each other?”

“She’s been my best friend since we were kids. But then college took me away for a bit. But through all my ups and downs, Chassie’s been amazing. She’s a sweetheart, but she’s fiery.”

Yeah, I picked up on the fact. But I’m a big fan of that fire. I’d love to see how hot she’d burn in the bedroom. I bet she’s one wild fuck. Shit, now my dick is hard.

“I noticed,” I tease. “For a moment, I just thought she hated men.”

She shakes her head as she takes the next turn, driving us back to their place. I check the side mirror just to make sure we aren’t being followed. I still need to remember to do my job while I’m here. It’s the entire reason I’m on duty. Although, I’m not sure who would be after Cage’s woman. The VenomousVipers wouldn’t think about coming after one of ours or we’d exterminate their entire club.

“That girl does not hate men. Quite the contrary. But every time she starts to move on, her ex sinks his claws back into her and ropes her in again. I’m waiting for the day she meets an amazing guy and sets Dusty free once and for all. She deserves so much better.”
