I blinked up at him, overwhelmed, and rested my head against his shoulder. My eyelids threatening to stay closed was a clear indicator that I wouldn’t have difficulty falling asleep tonight.

His voice held concern. “You okay?”

“Yeah,” I sighed.

Carefully, he laid me in the bathtub and I softly moaned, feeling the warm water soothe every inch of me.Bubbles…

I smiled, resting my head against the edge of the tub. Once again, he tied my hair for me before disappearing into the room. He came back with a glass of water and held it for me as I sipped some. I thanked him, and he moved the chair to sit down beside me.

He reached forward, gently cupping the side of my face and I leaned into his palm. “I’m sorry,” I apologized, looking up at him. “I won’t do it again.”

He simply nodded, as he gently ran his thumb over my cheekbone.

“You did so well today.”

I smiled, shyly, as I avoided his eyes.

“I knew you would.”

Like a silly little schoolgirl, my heart fluttered at his words, and I couldn’t help but feel flustered.

“Are you hurt? Or uncomfortable?” he asked, and the genuine concern in his voice tugged at my heartstrings.

“No,ProfessorMadden, I am not,” I shook my head, allowing my head to slightly fall to the side as I glanced up at him. A timid smile found its way to my face as I stared up at him. I reached for his hand, and he allowed me to entwine our fingers.

“Ah, yes,” he nodded. “You did read through our section of the contract,” he mused.

I couldn’t help but laugh. “I might have skimmed through it,” I shrugged. He brought our hands to his lips, and gently pressed a kiss to the back of my hand.

I groaned, tossing and turning as I shivered underneath the sheets.

Eventually, I peeled my eyes open and stared up at the ceiling. The wind howled outside, and I could hear leaves rustling in the distance. I groaned in annoyance knowing that my incredibly good sleep was just interrupted.

I needed to get my clothes over here ASAP. Sleeping in nothing but a silk robe was too cold.

I threw my legs over the edge of the bed as I climbed out. The sky rumbled and a chill ran down my spine as I hugged myself. I looked out the window—the eerie night sky pushing me further toward the door.

The house was quiet, and most frightening of all, pitch black.

I wandered around upstairs, opening each door I came to. Unfortunately, I wasn’t familiar with the house yet. The first two doors were locked, and when I reached the third one, it opened.

The room was completely dark, and when I hesitantly stepped inside, I noticed a bed in the distance. I squinted—hard—but couldn’t make out who was sleeping. When I stepped further into the room, Logan’s cologne drifted into my nose so I inched closer. “Logan!” I whisper-yelled.

Nothing.

I crept up, nearing the edge of the bed and his perfectly sculpted—and naked—back came into view. “How is he shirtless right now,” I shivered, thinking out loud. “Logan!” I whisper-yelled once again, and this time, he moved.

He lifted himself and I walked over to the other side of the bed.

“Can I sleep with you? Please?” I asked, hugging myself even tighter. “My room’ssocold.”

He didn’t answer. He simply pulled the sheets back and I leaped at the chance. I slipped into his warm bed, pressing my cheek against his bare sturdy chest.Wow, he’s a human furnace.

He wrapped a firm arm around my waist and pulled me closer to him. I snuggled up in his arms with a sigh of relief then slipped my leg between his. Much better.
