I lift mine too. “To us.”
Chapter 26
Reid
I’ve had my fair share of flings and one night stands over the years. None of them have ever made me want to stay for very long. But now everything is different.
I’m just waking up and realizing that Lola is already gone. It feels so strange to wake up in a girl’s bed. But this isn’t justsomegirl’s bed. It’smygirl’s bed.
I have a girlfriend. And I’m definitely still getting used to that word. It’s rarely been part of my vocabulary.
I never thought I’d be able to call Lola mine. And I definitely never imagined sharing her with two of my closest friends. My whole world has been turned upside down.
My thoughts drift to what Wes is going to do when he finds out. When he learns that I’m not only sleeping with his sister, but I’m sharing her with Miles and Jude. He’s going to hunt us all down and kill us. And honestly, I wouldn’t blame him.
It doesn’t change anything, though. I’m not giving her up.
I drag a hand over my face and stare at the ceiling. I feel wrecked in the best way. I just wish that Lola was still here. I’m guessing she’s downstairs making some coffee.
I pull on my jeans and a T-shirt. The scent of coffee pulls me down the stairs. When I step into the kitchen, it’s not Lola I find.
It’s Gigi.
She’s standing by the counter in a robe, sipping a cup of coffee. Her expression changes the second she sees me.
“So, what? Now that the bitch spread her legs for you, you’re just gonna drop me?”
I exhale through my nose and lean against the doorframe. “Don’t play like I led you on.”
She takes a step forward, thrusting her mug like a weapon. “Oh, come on. The flirting. The drinks. You let me wear your jersey.”
“I didn’t really let you, Gigi. You just took it.”
Her eyes flash. “You didn’t stop me.”
“Because it wasn’t worth the hassle. Did you expect me to wrestle you for it?”
Her mouth twists. I know this girl is used to getting what she wants. Well—news flash—she’s not getting it today.
“You’re really choosing her?” she snaps. “Over me? That’s rich. What does she have that I don't? She’s a fucking disaster wrapped in yoga pants.”
I don’t bother with a response. She wants a rise and I refuse to give it to her.
“You always go for damaged girls,” she says. “It gives you an excuse not to fix your own shit.”
“Don’t act like you know anything about me.”
“Oh, I know enough. You act cold, but the second someone needs you, you throw yourself at it. Must’ve felt good to play the hero, huh? Clean up her life, pretend you’re saving her from herself?”
“Shut your fucking mouth.”
“She’s a mess, Reid. She’s one bad week away from losing her whole damn business. I mean, the girl is a goddamn trainwreck. And you thinkshe’sgirlfriend material?”
“I think she’s more of a woman than you’ll ever be. And you’re not going to fucking talk about her like that, do you hear me?”
That shuts her up for half a second. Then she flashes a sharp-edged smile.
Her eyes narrow. “You think this thing with her is going to last? You think you’re enough?”
