“Who?” I bat my lashes with the best look of innocence I can muster.
Kirill’s features fall neutral and he stares at me long enough it begins to make me uncomfortable. “Perhaps you just need some time to think about what is truly important.” Standing abruptly, he slings his chair against the far wall and stomps from the room.
The silent guy in the corner doesn’t move.
“What? Are you the muscle that’s supposed to break my legs? How’d you even convince Alexei to hire you?” I’d throw something at him if I could.
Not my pillow. I might need that.
He stands with a grunt. “Just tell the boss what he wants, and I won’t have to hurt you.”
The door closes, leaving me alone in the bare room.
A bed, and two chairs.
How am I going to get out of here?
CHAPTER 16
ALEXEI
“That’s him!”My finger jabs the screen hard enough it flickers.
“Alexei, stop fucking up my laptop,” Enzo growls at me, pushing my arm away.
Standing behind him, I can’t keep still. Bouncing from one foot to the other, I drop my chin to hover above his shoulder so I can watch.
His typing pauses, and his head turns slowly. “You’re breathing in my ear.” His dark eyes narrow.
Mikhail grunts from his desk behind me. “Alexei. Do we need to take a trip?”
“No,” I whine. “I need to stay and help.” I can’t go anywhere while Lara is missing.
My heart doesn’t work the same since she’s been gone.
Mikhail’s heavy hand lands on my back. “Come on. I’ll take you up and you can see if you can find her.”
I know that it won’t work.
But Ineedto do something.
At least jumping out of a plane will make me focus on something else.
It’s been two days since Lara was taken.
I haven’t slept. I haven’t eaten.
Candy isn’t as sweet.
The thought of a cowboy makes me almost cry because we can’t finish Yellowstone together.
“I gotta watch and make sure Enzo doesn’t miss anything.” It’s becoming a reflex holding the tip of my dick through my pants, even though it doesn’t hurt anymore.
“Alexei. You’re acting like a toddler who has to pee. Get your ass in the hall.” Mikhail gives me a shove towards the door.
“Thank you, Mikhail. Alexei, I promise I’ll let you know if I find out anything,” Enzo calls out as we leave.
