“Same for me. You didn’t answer my question. Will you give me a chance? I’m not above begging.”

“You don’t have to beg.” She brushed a soft kiss over his lips. “Yes.”

Thank God. Trace tightened his hold. “You won’t regret it. I’ll do everything possible to make you happy, Bridget.”

“Just be honest with me. If our relationship isn’t working for you, tell me.”

“I’ll never lie to you or cheat on you.”

Ben paused on the threshold. “Should I make myself scarce?”

“Not necessary.”

“Good. I’m still hungry.”

Trace rolled his eyes. “Why am I not surprised?”

Ben shrugged. “Can’t help it. Working ramps up my metabolism.”

“Poor you,” Bridget said, easing out of Trace’s arms.

He missed holding her already. Yeah, he was officially sunk and couldn’t be happier.

Ben winked at her. “I’m a growing boy.”

“If I ate like that all the time, I’d grow, too, but not in a way Trace would appreciate.”

“Don’t bet on it. That man is crazy about you.”

Trace kissed Bridget’s temple. “Ben’s right. I am crazy about you.”

Bridget tightened her hold on him.

“Please,” the other operative complained. “Don’t ruin my appetite.”

Trace chuckled. “Eat your pizza. Bridget and I have to memorize our backgrounds.”

“I thought you were training with her tonight.”

“I don’t want to make her ribs worse. Tomorrow will be soon enough.”

Ben waved them on as he loaded his plate. “I’ll clean the kitchen. Want me to take the first watch?”

Trace shook his head. “I’ve got it.”

“Three hours.”

Trace scooped the ice pack from his counter and tossed it in the freezer. He held out his hand to Bridget. “Come on, Bree. We need to get to know each other before we attempt to fool a master deceiver.”

They sat together on the sofa where Trace opened his laptop to check his email. He and Bridget read through the backgrounds the tech wizard created for them.

When he reached the end of Bree’s bio, he glanced at Bridget. “Can you pull this off?” If they went with this bio, she might have to demonstrate her technique. His jaw tightened. Bridget being that close to a sleaze like Hugo disquieted Trace.

“Absolutely. This is a perfect cover.”

“You know anything about massage therapy?”

“I’m a licensed massage therapist.”
