Instead of falling asleep, she divided her attention between watching the television and Matt. An hour later, he stirred, tightened his grip on her, and captured Delilah’s mouth in a series of long, deep kisses.

“Good morning,” he murmured when he eased back. “I like waking this way.”

“Scrunched up on the couch?” He couldn’t be comfortable.

“With you in my arms.” Another kiss. “You’re highly addictive, Ms. Frost.”

“So are you, Mr. Rainer.”

Cade walked in from the balcony, nodded at Delilah, and returned to his room.

Matt went to the kitchen and poured a mug of coffee. “Want tea?”

“Please. Will I distract you if I sit here while you’re on watch?”

He winked at her. “As long as you don’t steal kisses, I’ll be fine.”

Delilah smiled. “There goes my plan to pass the time until Sasha’s awake.”

With a soft laugh, he placed a mug of water with a tea bag into the microwave and started the heating cycle. A minute later, he handed her the mug and took up his watch at the French doors. “Would you like to sit outside with me?”

“Tempting offer. Is it safe?”

“We haven’t seen signs our location is compromised.”

Delilah carried her tea to the outdoor sofa to sit with Matt. By the time the sun rose, Sasha was in the kitchen pouring herself a mug of coffee and brewing another pot.

She wandered out to the balcony. “I assume nothing happened overnight.”

“Wish I could say yes to that.” Delilah told her about the vandalism at Wicks.

“Are you going home?”

“I have responsibilities to fulfill first. I hate depending on Piper and Matt’s friends to clean up the mess.”

Sasha sat nearby and patted Delilah’s hand. “Extenuating circumstances. They understand.”

For a woman with no friends during high school, the number of friends in her life now was a miracle. Delilah’s gaze shifted to Matt. In a million years, she never would have dreamed a man like Matt would be interested in her.

He kissed her lightly. “What do you need to do today besides drop by the lawyer’s office and the police station?”

“My stepfather should be out of the house by now. I need to see what I’m facing to prepare the house to sell. Do you want to talk to my brother, cousins, and Sebastian?”

He nodded. “Don’t know if we can talk to all of them today.”

“Sounds like more than a full day.”

A knock sounded on the suite door. Matt stood. “Delilah, you and Sasha go into your room until I know it’s safe.”

Once they were in place, he eased his weapon from the holster at his back and opened the door a crack. When he swung the door wide, Delilah breathed a sigh of relief.

Trent, Liam, and Simon walked inside.

Matt indicated the room service menu on the breakfast bar. “Order breakfast for all of us, Trent. Delilah and I need to go to Harmony this morning.”

“What do you want us to do while you’re gone?”

“Surveillance on our primary suspects. We can’t cover all five of them, though.”
