“Rainer.”

“No. Would you wait if Grace was missing?”

A growl from his team leader. “No, I wouldn’t. Use your head. If you go in without a plan, you’ll get yourself killed. You need Bravo and Delilah needs you.”

“Cade is down. He needs to stay down.” As terrified as he was for Delilah, Matt couldn’t forget Cade’s compromised health.

“Forget it,” his best friend snapped.

Matt scowled. Trent must have put the call on speaker. “If you have to fight in close quarters, you’ll be at a serious disadvantage and undo all the work the doctor did on your shoulder.”

“I’ll be fine. Besides, if I need repair work, you can do the honors while you nag me for not listening to you. Just shut up about it. I’m not staying here.”

“Give it up, Rainer,” Liam said. “We’re ready to roll and Cade hasn’t popped any heavy-duty pain pills for hours. Even wounded he’s worth ten wannabe terrorists.”

Worry for Cade still gnawed at him, but he would have done the same if the situations were reversed. “Yeah, all right. Just be careful, Cade. I don’t want to break in a new partner.”

“Yeah, yeah. Same here, Matt. Watch your back.”

Trent broke in. “As soon as Zane contacts you, call us.”

“Yes, sir.”

A call came in through Matt’s Bluetooth. “Rainer.”

“This is Cam Jennings. I’m with Fortress research. I hacked into the traffic cams around the law office. One silver SUV tore out of the parking lot ten minutes before you called Zane. I tracked the vehicle as far as I could. The women took East Main out of town to the north side of Harmony.”

“Women?”

“Yes, sir. Both had dark hair. I can probably clean up a picture of them and forward it to your phone.”

“Do it. Where did they head, Jennings?”

“I tracked them up Highway 122 for 20 miles. At that point, they turned off onto a side road on the right and disappeared. No traffic cams in that area. I’m sorry.”

“You did great. Transfer me to Zane.”

“Yes, sir.”

Silence, then Zane said, “I’m still working on locating the SUV. I need another five to ten minutes.”

“Jennings gave me a starting direction. She said the women took Highway 122 for 20 miles and took a right onto a side road. Can you tap into a satellite?”

“You bet. Hold.”

The sound of Zane’s rapid typing brought a brief smile to Matt’s lips. The only other person he knew who could make a computer almost sit up and beg was a Navy SEAL who was also a top-flight sniper and a friend.

“Got it. I sent you the link for the still shot of the area and another link for the sequenced shots. The satellite is almost out of range. I have backdoor access to a military satellite that will be in position in twenty minutes. I’ll have the link ready at the twenty-minute mark if we need it.”

“Send the same information to the rest of Bravo. They’ll converge on my location.” Matt sped onto the entrance ramp to Highway 122. “Can you work on the SUV’s location and feed me information about the area in the satellite stills as I drive?” The mission clock ticked in his head, counting down the last minutes of Delilah’s life. He knew in his gut if he didn’t find her in the next hour, he’d lose the love of his life.

More keys clicked. “The road they took leads into a large forested area that butts up against a wildlife preserve and a river.”

“Who owns the property?” Matt weaved his way through traffic on the highway, urgency riding him hard.

“Hold.” A moment later, Zane returned. “A business called Into The Wild owns the property.”

Anger simmered in Matt’s gut. “Find out who owns the business. I also need to know the whereabouts of all the members of that exclusive gun club Sebastian Norris established.”
