Arms crossed and leaning against a a shelf, Bennett watched me browse through the bookstore, much as he had in Venice. While I could have certainly purchased a dozen or more, I humored him and only picked a couple. It was mostly to occupy myself whenever we went boating. As relaxing as the water was, it gave me too much time to think and at present thinking was the last thing I wanted to do.

“Do you have enough?” he asked, brows raised.

“Never.” I shot him a smirk.

“What about the store?” Sidling up to me, he pushed me backward against the bookcase. He caught his lower lip between his teeth, openly staring at my mouth. The conversation may have centered around books, but the look on his face indicated they were the furthest thing from what was really on his mind.

I cast a cautious glance from side to side. Thankfully, we were alone. “What about the store?”

“Say the word, and it’s yours.” His hips pushed into mine while his fingers ran through my hair, pulling me closer to his waiting mouth.

“I don’t need you to buy me a bookstore,” I replied in a near-whisper as he kissed and nipped my jaw and throat, sliding his hands up and down my body. “I just need you.”

“You have me” — he pulled back, his expression solemn as he caressed the side of my face — “for as long as you want me.”

“All of eternity?”

“And then some.” He pressed his lips to mine, grinding his hard-on into me.

Pulling away with a small groan, I did my best to arrange my features into something of a stern look. Not that Bennett cared about propriety. At all. “We are in public.”

“Didn’t stopyouthe other night.” He unzipped my pants and worked his hand inside, shamelessly stroking my length. Dragging his tongue up the side of my throat, he sucked on the soft skin just beneath my jaw.

“Bennett…”

“Yes, my love?” he breathed between kisses, working me harder, faster, and in total view of anyone who happened to turn the corner. Luckily the rare books section wasn’t exactly popular with today’s society.

I forgot what I was even going to say. He didn’t seem to care since he reclaimed my mouth with voracity, his tongue as unrelenting as his hand.

Tearing my mouth free, I squeezed my eyes shut and threw my head back. The books I’d been holding as a last-ditch effort to keep Bennett at bay, tipped out of my hand and crashed to the floor. I grabbed the shelf before I fell along with them. “Oh, fuck. I don’t know if I can hold out much longer.”

I should have known my admission wouldn’t make him stop. Rather, he dropped to his knees, right there in the store, and took my cock into his mouth. Raking his hands up and down my abdomen, his tongue swirled and massaged every place he could reach.

“Bennett...” I bit my lip, trying to listen for the sound of footsteps, but it was impossible over my own ragged breathing.

Completely unconcerned, Bennett carried on. One of his hands grabbed my ass, holding me firmly while the other slid up and down my shaft.

A string of swear words was on the tip of my tongue, just dying to come out until I bit down, hard. My orgasm rushed down my spine and flew out of me. A split second before my legs buckled, I shored up my grip on the shelves with both hands.

Bennett kept his lips wrapped around me, somehow chuckling as he swallowed every bit of my release. Licking his lips, he rose to his feet and brushed a curl off my forehead. “Now don’t you feel better?”

Breathing hard I readjusted myself and my clothing, torn between glaring and smiling like a blissful idiot. “You are the Devil. You know that, right?”

He stooped to gather my books and tucked them under his arm, as nonchalant as ever. Giving me a wink as he rounded the corner, he strolled away, whistling to himself.

Bennett

“You can open your eyes now,” I said, hoping my voice didn’t betray the volley of butterflies darting around my stomach.

Why was I so nervous?

I’d never been nervous on water, even at night. Unlike most people, I didn’t fear heights or speed or sailing into the abyss with zero navigation. The credit for that, I think, went to the lightning bolt I took to the brain as a kid, but that was neither here nor there. The fact was, for whatever reason, I felt like I was moments away from hurling my dinner into the water, which woulddefinitelyspoil the night.

Rubbing my palms over my thighs, I focused on Leander instead of trying to figure out whatever the hell my problem was. Between his never-ending nightmares and the disconcerting tryst in the shower, I decided I had to do something spectacular. Something out of this world to draw him out of the shell he was retreating into like a little hermit crab.

Leander did as instructed, his dark brows coming together ever so slightly as he glanced around. “Um... Where are we?”
