"Okay, look over here." I snap my fingers in front of his face for his attention.

My hand opens and I blow a golden powder right into his face. He inhales most of it and his eyes go cloudy, as if Elvis is no longer in the building.

"Tomorrow night, you'll come back and ask me to remove the curse. Then you'll fuck my brains out. Now go home and always tell the truth."

He nods, a faraway look in his eyes, and gets up to leave my shop. I watch his tight ass that fills those tailored trousers like a glove. I'm always surprised when he leaves that I still want him. It's been fifteen days since I gave him the tattoo and every night he comes back here and 'takes his revenge'.

Best sex of my life.

Winged

Isay goodbye to the last customer of the day. The day has been hot and long and I'm exhausted under this coat. But I need it. It covers my wings. I'm a faerie and I was cast out of my home because I wanted to be tall and live with the humans. Well, my wish was granted, but I was separated from all that I held dear.

Here amongst humans, I have to be so careful that no one discovers my secret. I don't know what they would do to me? Experiments? Enslavement? All because I'm different. All because I have magic in me. I turn off the lights in the exhibition room where all my figurines are displayed. They are likenesses of other faeries I've known throughout the years.

My heart aches for my family. As I go to the back to fix myself some soothing tea, I push aside a container full of flour and it falls all over my coat. This coat is my protection, and now I'll have to spend some time cleaning it before I can finally go to bed. I take it off and start cleansing it in the sink, when I hear something fall on the other side of the door.

I turn quickly and see a woman scurrying away, and I curse myself for being so careless. She's seen my wings and now she'll tell everyone. I recognize her as the owner of a bakery a few streets over. I'll have to talk to her to see if she'll keep my secret. I put my coat back on and go to the bathroom upstairs to finish cleaning the coat.

Morning comes fast when you're trying to rest, but I'm glad I woke up early enough that I can go see the baker. My coat is almost dry, and I put it on, being careful of my wings. They're delicate but powerful. I could lift a human man if I wanted to and take him flying. When I get to the bakery, the woman signals me to go outside.

I wait for her, and when she comes, it's with a weird smile on her face.

"I know your secret."

"You can't say a word, please."

"You'll have to pay me. Ten gold coins a week."

"But that's insane. I can't pay that much."

"You'll do it if you want to keep your secret."

She hurries away and I'm left standing there. If I pay her that much I won't have enough money to feed myself. Suddenly I sense someone behind me and I turn. God help me if someone overheard us. At least she didn't say out loud what my secret was.

"I'm sorry to disturb you, Miss Imani, is it?"

"Yes."

"You own the figurine shop near the park?"

"Yes, I have to get going."

"I can help you."

His words freeze me in place, and a chill goes down my back.

"What do you want?"

"The baker is blackmailing you, is she not?"

"How…how…"

"She's done it before to other townsfolk. I can help you. I can remove her memories of your secret."

"I don't have any secrets."

"Don't like to me, faerie, I know who you are and where you come from."
