“Here we go,” I said as Crow grumbled something I couldn’t understand under his breath.

“Morning.”

“Morning, Paisley. How are you?” We followed the nurse back, and he watched closely as the nurse got my weight. I was embarrassed that he was seeing how much I’d gained, but there was nothing I could do about it.

“What’s that for?” he asked when I grabbed the cup from the nurse.

“I pee in it.”

“Do you always gotta do this?”

“Yep,” I giggled, excusing myself to the restroom before my bladder exploded. The closer I got to my due date, the more it felt like my little girl was dancing on my bladder.

I made quick work of doing my business and washing my hands.

“Done.” With the check-in process out of the way, we followed Dr. Scott’s nurse into an exam room.

“I’m going to step out so you can change,” she said, offering me a cotton gown.

“Thank you.”

Crow stood there staring at me. “Uh, you too,” I pointed at the door.

“I don’t think so,” he smirked.

Whatever. It wasn’t like he hadn’t seen me naked once before.

“You’re beautiful,” Crow said, grabbing hold of my hand as I climbed onto the table once I was changed.

“I’m fat.” I tried to laugh it off.

Crow moved closer, crowding his big body into my space. “Look at me.”

I shook my head and looked away. Crow has always been able to see right through me, and I didn’t want him to know how insecure I felt.

Crow cuffed my chin, lifting my face so he could look into my eyes. “Don’t fucking hide, P. Look at me.”

Bottling it all up, my eyes connected with his. “What?”

“I was going to take things slow, give you time to wrap your head aroundus, but I can see now that isn’t going to work.”

“Wha- what?” I sputtered.

“You’ll see.” Before I could ask him what he was talking about, the door opened.

"Good morning, Ms. King. How are we feeling today?" Dr. Scott asked as he entered the room.

“You didn’t tell me your doctor was a man,” Crow grumbled.

“Nathan!” I widened my eyes at him, a silent demand to knock it off. Sure, my doctor had the whole silver fox thing going on, but I was as big as a house and Dr. Scott was married.

“Believe it or not, that’s perfectly normal around here,” Dr. Scott chuckled, interrupting my thoughts. “I’ve got a few patients that are married to bikers. I’m used to territorial,” he clarified as he set up the ultrasound machine.

That explained why he didn’t seem the least bit put off by Crow’s comment.

“Let’s check you out, then we’ll take a look at your little one. Sound good?”

“Yeah.”
