Margery gasped.

“I know you get turned on when I kill for you, say things to you, and when I’m close to you,” he whispered in her ear.

“N-no!” she stuttered.

“I think you just lied.”

“I did not.” But her voice was shaky, giving away that she did.

Ethan moved his head down a little, and his breath was hot against her neck. She closed her eyes and drew in a shaky breath.

“You’re definitely lying,” he affirmed against her skin.

Margery clenched her thighs together. Shewaslying.

“Open them and let me feel.”

She shook her head. If he got his hands on her, she knew it would be the end of her trying to fight this attraction. Right now, she had a choice and a chance.

“All in good time. Before you know it, you’ll be begging me to touch you.”

“Never.” Margery was firm in her answer.

A wicked grin spread across Ethan’s face. “Challenge accepted.”

CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

MARGERY

Ethan left soon after. He told her she needed to stay in the room while he took care of some things. Like she was going to stay in the room.

The first thing she tried was the door, but he had locked it. She found some tweezers in the bathroom that she could attempt to pick the lock with. Sadly, she didn’t know what she was doing. She figured it looked easy on the television and that it would be easy in person.

But she was wrong.

Margery gave up after a couple of minutes. The next thing she tried was the window. Margery worked out she was on the second floor, but maybe there was a tree nearby. Unfortunately, it was like Ethan knew what she was thinking and had bolted it.

Margery was so angry at Ethan. How could he do this? She had asked him several times before he left to let her go. Every single time, he told her he wouldn’t. That she was his and she was never going to leave.

Would she ever see Adalisa again? Would she ever see the outside world? Margery didn’t know if Ethan was going to allow her to leave freely. But if she stayed, then what?

She walked to the door and started to pound on it. Maybe somebody in the house would take sympathy on her and let her out. They had to know she was in here. Were they going to keep her in there? Maybe she could get one of them to open it if she was loud enough.

“Let me out!” she yelled. “Let me out of here!”

She continued to pummel the door, trying to make as much noise as she possible. Margery didn’t know if anyone else was in the house. What if it was Ethan’s house, and she was the only one there except him? Then, she would have wasted all this energy.

But she needed to try for her own sanity.

What if she lost an opportunity because she didn’t attempt to get out? She didn’t want to have any regrets.

“Let me the fuck out!” she screamed. “I’m being held against my will. Help me!”

If there were people in the house, would they be his housekeepers or his men? Did he even have a housekeeper? If it was only his men, she could guarantee they wouldn’t help her. But maybe if the house staff would sympathize with her.

She pulled her leg back and swung it forward, kicking the door. Her foot ached, but it made a loud noise, which was what she wanted. Maybe then someone would stop.

“Fuck you!” she screeched, getting angrier by the second. “Fuck you, Ethan. Let me fucking out right now!”
