He had to consider everything since he was in charge, and Matthias was his right-hand man.
“Is she going to get in the way of your duties?”
“No, boss. She won’t. I promise. If you ever need me, just call, and I will leave right away.”
“She won’t be hurt about you disappearing all of a sudden? Does she know what you do?”
“She doesn’t know what I do, and if I have to go randomly, I’ll make it up to her. Or I won’t. Either way, this job comes first.”
That’s just how Ethan wanted it. How it needed to be right now. Especially since he was going to be occupied with Margery.
Right as Ethan was about to say something, Margery turned her head and whimpered.
“I’ll leave you alone,” Matthias offered before exiting the room.
Ethan kept his eyes on Margery the whole time. It was about time she woke up.
“Hello, sleepyhead.”
CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE
MARGERY
Margery whined and started to suckle even faster, trying to soothe herself. Why did she feel like she had been run over by a bus? The last time she felt like this was when she was in the car crash, and Max has taken care of her.
“Hello, sleepyhead,” someone gently said.
She moaned as the person ran their hands through her hair. That felt amazing.
“You’re such a good girl.”
She cracked her eyes open and looked to the side. It took her a couple of seconds to register that Ethan was sitting beside the bed.
Screaming, she sat up from the bed and moved away. What was she doing with him? Why was she so close to him?
“You’re okay,” he calmly murmured. “Everything is going to be all right.”
“Where am I? Why am I here?” Margery panicked.
He gave her a gentle smile like he used to do when theywere young. For a second, it brought her back to the good old days before he died.
“I can’t tell you the location because it’s a secret, but you should know you’re safe. Daddy is going to keep you safe from now on. You don’t have to worry about anything.”
What if she needed to be safe from him? The likelihood of that happening wasn’t too certain since he had killed for her and made sure she was okay. But at the same time, there still was the whole stalking and sending her gifts situation.
“Why are you calling yourself Daddy again?”
Maybe she had heard wrong the first time, and he was going to say something else. Not that she hoped for that. Margery had been looking for a Daddy for a long time.
“Because I am your Daddy. I know you’ve been searching for a Daddy. How long have you known you were a Little?”
Margery looked down at her hands. How was she supposed to tell him she knew when he was alive? She was going to tell him before he faked his death, but she never had the opportunity to.
“Margery. No lying to Daddy.”
She had longed to call EthanDaddyseveral times. It was all she ever wanted, and now the chance was in front of her. But could she look past him stalking her? She was surprised his killing for her didn’t bother her as much, but she wasn’t going to question it right now. Especially after Adalisa and she had had their conversation about it.
“I’ve known for a long time,” she mumbled.
