"Today has been so great," she says from behind me. I look over my shoulder as I load four water bottles into my arms.

"It was everything she deserves.”

"Agreed."

"How are you still wearing those heels?" I ask, impressed as always by her.

They’rereallyhigh heels. I have not been so graceful in my much shorter version, and took them off as soon as we got back.

"They’re my wedding shoes.” She stomps in place a couple times, just to make them click against the tile. “I’ve been to alotof weddings, babe.”

I hand her one of the bottles in my arms and she thanks me as I take it. Then she proceeds to gulp it down like she’s never had water before.

“Drink a little too much? Feeling dehydrated?”

“No, I haven’t had anyth—” She cuts herself off, as if that was saying something she shouldn’t.

“Haven't had anything to drink?”

She nods.

“Why are you…” I pause. “Not even the champagne?”

She shakes her head, and her eyes search my face.

I try not to gasp when she rests one hand over her stomach, and she uses the other to place a finger in front of her lips.

"Our little secret, okay? Don’t freak out. We don’t want everyone to know about her yet.”

"Vic, shutup!” I whisper scream. “Her?"

"We found out a couple days ago."

She's so small that it's easy to miss, but there is a bump there. It's accentuated even more by the way she cradles it.

How did I not notice? Shouldn't I have some sort of pregnant radar given my current state?

I glance over in the hallway to make sure we don't have any surprise listeners.

"So Julian knows? Does Reya? Who else?" My questions come one after the one and she laughs at my curiosity.

"Just him. Just us. We wanted to wait until after the wedding."

"Well, this is going to be awkward," I joke as I point to my own stomach. I don't have a bump yet, I'm not even sure how far along I am. I took the test yesterday morning after my period was a few days late.

Actually, I took five tests. Just to be sure. We hadn't been actively trying, but we talked about the possibility. I got off my birth control months ago, and we felt like it would happen when it's meant to happen.

This feels like perfect timing. I just published my third book, and I can actually afford to pay Kaitlyn for running all of my social media. Miles and I have been living together since the Spring. And now I get to experience this with my best friend, who's practically a professional at being pregnant.

She slaps the counter. "Autumn Owens. Are you serious right now?"

"I am so serious."

She covers her mouth that's dropped open.

"That explains why you were pretending to drink the champagne!"

I should have known I wasn’t that sneaky.
