The last thing I need is to get involved with him, no matter how breathtakingly gorgeous he is—or how wet my panties are when he’s around.

No, that would be a colossally bad idea.

After a long minute, I slide my hand away from his, our fingertips brushing. Sparks fly straight to my pussy, but I make the conscious decision to shut that part of my brain off.

I need to focus on starting my business—and my new life. And that life should not include one Colt Wild.

“Let’s get back to work.”

After six hours of pulling up ancient mint green linoleum, I’m over it.

“That’s it. I’m calling it.” I stand, wiping the sweat from my brow with the back of my tired, dusty arm. “I can’t pull any more linoleum today.”

“But we’re almost done.” Colt waves his hand at the corner of the space. “That’s all we have left.”

“Tomorrow, Colt. I think I may have pulled a muscle.”

He raises a suspicious brow. “Where?”

“Here.” I point at the center of my back. “I’m not joking. I’m in pain.”

Standing, he brushes his hands together, a white dust cloud blooming. Then in three long strides, he’s at my side.

“Show me.”

My mouth goes dry, a weird buzzing sensation humming through my body. “What?”

“The sore spot, the muscle you think you pulled.”

“Oh.” I lick my lips, try to get a hold of myself. “It’s right here.” I turn, the tip of my index finger showing him the sore spot in between my shoulder blades.

“Here?” He reaches out, touching my spine, and a tingle ripples through me.

I bite down hard on my bottom lip. “Mm-hmm.”

Colt rubs the spot, working the tight, angry muscles around my spine. My back loosens while my core clenches, a weird parallel sensation. To my horror, a moan falls from my lips.

He smirks. “You like that?”

Blood rushes straight to my face, and I’m certain I’m as red as a summer tomato. “It’s fine, yeah.”

“Fine?” One brow arches high, a smile dancing on his full lips.

“Maybe a little better than fine…” My voice comes out in a breathy whisper, my heart pounding.

He keeps rubbing, never breaking eye contact, and my mind flashes to him stroking other parts of my body.

No, Trixie. A few hours ago, y’all shook and made a deal not to go there. You can’t fall for his charm.

“I’m good.” I pull away, straightening up to my full height. Difficult, given the pulled muscle—and the effect Colt’s massage had on me.

Not that I will ever admit that, even in a court of freaking law under oath.

“Okay. If you need any more massages, let me know. You can consider that part of my services.” He winks and grins, sending my stomach into a full-blown swoopy tailspin.

“Um, thanks.” I clear my throat and fake a cough, pretending the dust’s getting to me. “Good work today. I’m going to take a quick shower and then head to the store to grab some groceries.”

“Do you want me to finish up here?” He gestures at the remaining linoleum.
