“Yes, please. All of it. Also—will you go to the Peach Fest with me?”
Oh my. What in the actual fuck was I doing?
“Uh, sure. When is it?” He stared at me, his brow furrowed as he likely calculated just how long he was going to be in town.
“This weekend. I asked Big Ray for the night off a while ago. As long as Steph doesn’t pull something shady on me, I should be free all day. And night.”
Damn, where did that come from?Apparently being around Liam brought out my bold side.
“I’d love to take you. Thanks for asking.” He smiled, his teeth gleaming in the sunlight, and set a heaping plate of breakfast down in front of me.
“Wow. This looks really good.”
“You sound surprised. What—you don’t think men can cook?” he teased, sitting down next to me with his own plate of food.
“I didn’t say that,” I said, taking a tentative bite of scrambled egg.
“You didn’t have to. It was written all over your face. I’ve lived on my own for a while now. Believe it or not, I can—and do—take care of myself.”
“Touché. Good to know. And this is really good.”
“Wait until you try my spaghetti Bolognese. I’ve perfected the sauce.” He winked at me, bringing his fingertips to his lips in a chef’s kiss.
I couldn’t help but giggle. “Can’t wait. I’ll be over for dinner later this week.”
“Deal,” he said, locking his eyes on mine, and my heart melted in my chest like a big ol’ pat of butter.
What had I gotten myself into?

After the lunchshift slowed to a crawl at the diner, I sent Everly a text:
Need to talk something out with you. You home tonight?
I didn’t have to wait long for Everly’s response.
Everly: Don’t do me like that. Tell me now
Macy: It’ll be better in person
Everly: SPILL. THE. TEA.
Macy: Fine. I asked Liam to Peach Fest
Everly: So?
Macy: SO. WTF am I doing? I’m sure he’s going back to L.A. So why am I getting involved?
Everly: Because he’s hot. And you haven’t gotten laid in a while
Macy: You’re so crass. But yeah, he is hot
Everly: And you got laid. Nice! Way to go. How was it?
