Page 105 of Chasing After Forever

“Umm,” Macy said, handing her oversized bouquet of white roses and calla lilies to Everly before turning to face me. I reached for her hands, clasping them tightly. She took a quick inhale, blew out a breath, then glanced up at me, locking her hazel eyes on mine.

“Liam, you are the kindest, sweetest, most thoughtful person I’ve ever met. The day you walked into the Rowdy was the luckiest day of my life. I honestly never thought I’d get here with anyone, let alone someone as amazing as you. Thank you for never giving up on me—on us. I love you with all my heart and can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”

She paused, and Mars tipped his head to the side, his jet-black hair flopping over his forehead as he sighed with contentment. “Lovely, just lovely. Liam, your turn.”

I cleared my throat, pushing my jangly nerves down. “Macy, I’ve loved you from the very first moment I saw you. I love seeing you smile, and I’m going to make it my life’s mission to be the one to put a smile on your beautiful face every single day. To make you laugh, hold your hand, be there for you when life gets hard. You have the most kind, caring, gentle soul, and I will protect you and your heart all the days of my life.”

“Guys!” Mars said, shaking his head. “I can’t right now.” He pulled the pocket square from his suit jacket, dabbing at the corner of his eye. “Y’all are just too cute. Swoon. Now that the vows are done—” He bit down on his lip, staring at me. “You were done, right?”

I nodded and he swiped at his brow. “Phew. Okay, time to move onto the rings. You have the rings?” He glanced over at Benji, who nodded.

“Yes, sir.” Benji handed the rings to Mars, flipping the lid on the box, and Mars handed a ring to Macy.

“Rings symbolize your union, of which there is no beginning and no end. Sounds like it won’t be a problem for you two,” he said. I chuckled and Macy smiled.

“Alright, Macy,” Mars said. “Please place the ring on Liam’s finger and repeat after me. I, Macy, give you this ring as a symbol of my love, today and all the years of my life.”

Macy repeated the words, sliding the smooth platinum band onto my finger. Mars let out a huge whoosh of air.

“Oh good, it fits! I was a little worried.” He grinned at the guests and everyone laughed. “Okay, your turn, Liam.” He handed the sparkly diamond-and-platinum ring to me to give to Macy. “You know the drill. Place the ring on Macy’s lovely, delicate finger and repeat after me: I, Liam, give you this ring as a symbol of my love, today and all the years of my life.”

I steadied my hand, gazing into Macy’s eyes as I slid the ring onto her finger. “I, Liam, give you this ring as a symbol of my love, today and all the years of my life.”

Macy stared down at the ring, her eyes welling up with tears. “It’s beautiful, Liam.”

“Not half as beautiful as you. I’m glad you like it.”

“I can feel the tension building here, so I’m gonna cut to the chase. By the authority vested in me by the state of Nevada—which wasn’t all that easy to get, you know—I now pronounce you husband and wife. Liam, you may kiss the bride.”

Right on cue, the harpist hit a glissando, the music swelling as I tipped my head down, brushing my lips with Macy’s. It had to be our thousandth kiss, yet felt like the first, every nerve in my body thrumming with excitement. I loved this woman with every fiber of my being and I could not believe I was standing here, in this moment, with Macy in my arms.

My wife.

“I love you, Macy Grace,” I murmured, my thumb tracing the soft skin of her cheek.

“I love you back, Liam,” she whispered, her eyes shiny with tears.

“Wrap it up, lovebirds,” Everly teased, thrusting Macy’s bouquet at her. “I know y’all planned a reception and some of us are hungry.”

“And thirsty,” Benji said, chiming in right where Everly left off.

“Exactly,” Everly said, bobbing her dark head. She glanced around her sister, locking eyes with Benji. “I like how you think.” She nodded appreciatively in his direction and he winked at her.

“Shall we?” he asked, offering Everly his arm for the processional.

“Most definitely,” Everly said, sidling up to him and linking her arm in his.

Macy’s eyes met mine, and we both smiled. Love seemed to be heavy in the Vegas air, even at this altitude.

Applause broke out as we walked down the aisle, hand-in-hand, husband and wife. Ryder whistled and cheered, while Quinn held up his phone, Gigi and Pops on the other end of the video call.

“Welcome to the family, Macy!” Pops’s gruff voice rumbled through the phone. Her face lit up as she waved and shot them a beaming smile.

“Thank you!”

“So glad to have another lady in the family,” Gigi said, a warm smile on her face.

“Congratulations to you both. Now you kids go and have fun. Don’t do anything crazy and we’ll see you back here next week,” Pops said.
