I could cut back after that. The dinner would be my payback for his kindnesses, and it would end there. I’d be done with Barbados Josh, and free to turn down Mr. Rationalizer in the future.

Sandy wouldn’t understand, but maybe having given her his number would solve both our problems.

Chapter 19

Josh

Friday morning,I stood under the hot water, leaning against the shower wall. My legs went weak as I finished with a grunt, painting the wall with my cum as I had each of the last few mornings.

After turning under the spray to rinse off, I splashed water on the wall to eradicate the evidence. The last thing I needed was to have my cleaning service find cum stains on the wall.

In the kitchen after getting dressed, I danced in front of the stove to oldies while I tried a variation of my mocha French toast, with more cinnamon than last time. Each time I sat down to this in the morning, it brought back a vision of Nicole across from me at coffee. I didn’t know how long it would take, but she’d be my girl. She just didn’t realize it yet.

Dee had just left, and the door to my office was closed. It was a little after ten in the morning when I dialed Harold.

“I was just about to call you, Josh,” he said when he answered.

Skipping the pleasantries, I got right to it. “Good, does that mean you have good news for me on Sandman?” We needed a CFO over here in a bad way.

“Afraid not. He’s pretty tied up at the moment, but I’m looking around for a suitable candidate for you. Don’t want to stick you with somebody too junior who would need a lot of your time.”

It sounded reasonable, except the part about Sandman.

“I wanted to know how the Smith’s-consolidation planning was coming along,” he continued.

I straightened in my chair and kept my answer brief. “That may not be the smart move.”

“Of course it is,” he shot back.

I knew my answer wouldn’t sit well with him, and it wouldn’t be smart to start a battle right now. “I saidmaynot. I’m still assessing the situation.”

“Planning these things takes time.”

I rapped my knuckles on the desk. “Got somebody at the door, Harold. Gotta go. Let me know when Sandman’s going to be available.”

“Sure,” he said before I ended the call.

He was being a turd for some reason. I’d heard through the Benson grapevine that Sandman was bored stiff in his current slot, and if I knew George, he’d jump at the opportunity to come over here.

Nicole

Sunday afternoon,I stared at the second bouquet of flowers from Josh. It had arrived yesterday. The card had been pure Josh again.

I’ve been thinking about

dinner just us two.

And I’ll bet money

you have too.

“Goofball,” I said out loud. It’s a bet he would have won.
