“Just a little.”

He turned us so the water was running down my back.

“Well?” I asked.

Adam kissed my forehead. “We’ll talk later.”

I laid my head against his chest. “You know I’m going to hold you to that.”

“I know.”

As we moved, his arousal began to press against me. What had at first been shriveled from the cold had come to life under the warm water and our contact.

He pulled away. “I have to get out and make you something to eat.”

I pulled at him. “Don’t go yet.”

“If I stay, I’ll have to fuck you against the wall.” It was the same comment as the first time he’d abandoned me in the shower.

“What if I—”

He put a finger to my lips, keeping me from finishing the sentence. “I’ll make us something to eat. We have things to talk about.”

He left the shower, and I didn’t get to finish my naughty line, or ask what things we needed to talk about.

The warm water from the shower head didn’t make up for the warmth I’d lost when he pulled away. I watched him towel himself dry as I had at my house, but he seemed different in a way I couldn’t put my finger on. Maybe it was just the distortion of the water droplets on the glass, but then again…

After he left, I stripped out of my underwear, draped them over the top of the glass, and turned the water up as hot as I could stand.

He reappeared briefly, tossing clothes on the counter. “These should help you warm up.”

Normally being alone under the hot shower would have felt luxurious, but tonight it felt lonely. I twisted off the water. After drying, I slipped into the panties on top of the pile he’d brought, followed by USC sweatpants that were way too big. The drawstring fixed that, and the elastic at the ankles would keep me from tripping. I skipped the bra and added the oversize sweatshirt.

After wrapping my hair in a towel, I ventured out to find him in the kitchen.

“Feeling better?” Adam asked.

I went to where he stood at the microwave and wrapped my arms around him. “Much better, thank you.”

He nodded to the right. “Plates are up there.”

I let go to help with dinner.

“Sorry, all I have is microwave. I thought mac and cheese would hit the spot.”

I pulled down two plates. “Sounds perfect.” Hot and gooey would be a great way to relax after all that had happened today, and relaxation was what I needed. “Anything with you would be perfect tonight.” That was how I felt, and it was time I was honest about it.

A smile grew on his face, and he blew me a kiss.

My heart melted at the simple gesture as I walked the plates over.

He opened the microwave and pulled down the mac and cheese dinners, which he stirred and scooped out onto plates. “Wine is in the fridge, or beer if you prefer.”

I located a bottle of merlot in the door. The shelves of the fridge were almost bare, save some beer, apples, cheese, and a package of hot dogs that had seen better days. I carried the wine to the small nook table where he’d set the plates and glasses.

Screwing off the cap, I started to pour. “Say when.”

“I need a full one or two tonight,” he said with a laugh.
