“Sophie is thrilled,” Darby said, hurrying back in. “What did Ace say?”

“I texted him.” He looked at his phone then set it down. “Have you eaten?”

“Not yet, I was thinking we’d use that as an opportunity to explore the common life too. Kill as many birds with that stone as we can.”

“You’re a dream assistant.”

She spread her arms and turned. “You like it? I know you picked it but are you sorry you did,” she asked laughing.

“It suits you.”

She sucked in a breath and put her hands on her hips. “It does, doesn’t it?”

He used the opportunity to study her body. “Very much.” He raised his gaze to her face right as his phone buzzed. He eyed the screen.

Sorry I can’t make it for the fishing but if you take her, go to a place called The Wharf in the South Swamp. I’ll text you the coordinates. It has a pier you can fish from and a little restaurant attached with all the supplies and food you might need. Even has bathroom facilities. You’re welcome. I’ll take Sophie riding on My Machete. AKA my motorcycle. She loves it.

He texted back.Drive safe, please. I’ll have my phone with me if you need anything. Text me later.

“Ace can’t make it to fishing, he’s promised Sophie a motorcycle ride.”

“Ohhhh, wow, that’s awesome for her! Do you have one of those?” she wondered, curious.

He did but not at that location. “I do, would you like to ride?”

Her eyes went huge with her mouth. “Of course!”

“I will have it delivered. It’s at another location. I can have it here by tomorrow.”

“Oh, you don’t need to go through that much trouble for—”

“It’s no trouble. I want to,” he said, imagining her pressed against him from behind. “I haven’t ridden in years. And I’ve never ridden with a woman. This was on your to-do list I’m thinking?”

She laughed, getting his tease. “It is now!”

“He’s texting me a place he said we should go fishing. Has a restaurant near it. We can eat then fish?”

“Yes!” She went serious. “I’ll need to change.” She regarded him. “Do I have anything I can fish in?”

He was sure fishing attire was not in her wardrobe. He regarded the sudden lightbulb look on her face.

“I bet you have something I can wear.”

Him? “Like what?”

“You probably have workout clothes, that would work. Jogging pants and t-shirt?”

Hmm. Workouts were done without shirts. “I’m sure Sophie might have something.”

“Oh! Good idea. You think we’re the same size?”

“Close enough, I think.” She was more petite than Sophie and he liked that.

“I’ll call her.” She pointed at his body. “You can change while I do?”

“I can. Call me when you’re ready,” he said.

“Yes sir,” she said, making a squealing noise as she ran to her room.
