Tex nods, guiding them out the door. For once, Anne isn’t even looking at Jessica. I don’t know that I blame her. I’d be pissed if my father chose the nanny over me, too. Not that I know who my father even is, but if I did, I’d probably feel the same.

“What’s the next step?” I’ve known Hellfire for a long time, but if there’s anything I’ve learned about him, it’s that you never know what he’s gonna do until he does it.

“I will not have my whole damn club held hostage by some fuck that was born with a silver spoon up his ass. We’ll let him stew in it, and hope he realizes that he’s on the losing end in this deal. Meanwhile, we start prepping gear, call in any brothers that are out on jobs and start strategizing on how we’ll burn his whole estate down with him in it.” He waves at the door. “Now get the fuck outta my office. I need some time to think. Days like this I wonder why I fought so hard to be in this fucking chair.”

I get backto the church after dropping the girls off with Bonnie, to find Riot and Ghost on one of the couches drinking beer. They look like they’re in the middle of something. “It’s been a long fucking day. Any left for me?”

Riot reaches down to where there’s already a bottle waiting by his side. He throws it my way. “We’ve been talking.”

“I’ve been gone five fucking minutes. How much talking is there to do?”

Riot doesn’t bother beating around the bunch. “Jessica.”

“What about her?”

“I want her, and I don’t want it to be a problem with you guys.”

Ghost swings his bottle from the tips of his fingers. “He got a little taste this afternoon and wants to go back for the main course.”

“You wanna claim her? I like her too, but you’ve known her like three fucking days.”

Riot shakes his head, but he looks conflicted. “No! I mean, not yet. I like her, but none of us know where she’ll be in a week. If she’s smart, she’ll get the hell out of town and not look back. And don’t put it all on me. I’m not the only one. She and Ghost fucked around the morning after we went to the Burnout. She confessed to me today because she was feeling guilty about messing with both of us. It was fucking adorable.”

“Well, shit. I didn’t know I had to take a number if I was interested.” I haven’t known her any longer than they have, but if I’m being honest with myself, I’ve been waiting to shoot my shot too, and it sounds like I might already be too late. “What did you tell her?”

Riot takes a long drag from his beer. “That she’s free to do what she wants, but that if she wants to keep things simple, stick to the three of us. I could be wrong, but she seemed pretty happy with the suggestion, and I told her I’d make sure we were all in agreement. She didn’t want us pissed at each other.”

“Three?” My cock perks up along with my ears. Maybe the door isn’t closed yet.

Ghost nods. “Yeah, but slow down, cowboy. She’s a virgin. Or at least she still was when she left my room.”

“Same.” Riot confirms.

“We’ve shared before.” I’ve learned to trust my gut over the years, and it’s saying to not pass this up. “Unlike you guys, I haven’t had her in my bed, but if no one’s objecting and she’s game, I’d sure love to get to know her better. All of her.”

Riot looks to Ghost and then to me. “So we make this good for her, right? No objections?”

“And what if someone starts feeling a little possessive?” I ask. Hasn’t happened yet, but we wouldn’t be having this conversation if Jessica was like the usual girls we get around here. From the moment I met her, I liked her. She’s got backbone, and fire. It takes a lot of both to make it through what she has without crumbling.

“Then we deal with it like fucking adults,” Ghost answers. “This club is my home and you two are my brothers. I won’t get in your way if you’ve got something you want to pursue.”

I shake my head at him, laughing. “Are you that sure you’re not the one that’ll want to put a patch on her?”

“It’s not… I’m not safe for her,” he admits. “She’s dealt with enough shit in her life, she doesn’t need mine on top of it.”

“Still having nightmares?” Riot asks softly.

Ghost stares down at his bottle. “No, not for a while. That’s why I thought it was safe, but I nearly took her out when she woke up before me.”

“But you didn’t.”

“No, but that’s not a risk I’m willing to take.”

“I fucking like her,” slips outta me before I fully think about it. There’s something about her that makes me want to keep her safe from any more bullshit like she’s already been going through. Is it her? Or just a fucking savior complex? I don’t know. But I want to explore it, and her.
