“Rumor has it?”

I lift a shoulder. “Heard the last guy on the Storm who even looked at you was traded.”

She rolls her eyes. “That’s not true.”

I walk over and move into place beside her on the bed. “Oh, really? So he’d be okay knowing you’re naked in my hotel room right now?”

She twists her lips. “I mean, no. What dad would be? But the truth is that he doesn’t usually let me get close enough for a player to get a look.”

“I got a look today,” he points out.

“And the night of the ball, you had no idea who I was.”

“Fair point. Did you know who I was?” I ask. I’ve been wondering since the night we met.

“Of course I did. My dad’s a coach, and you’re a Nash. Even people who don’t know a thing about football know who the Nashes are.”

I blow out a breath. It’s true. My family has gotten a lot of press over the years, some good, some not so good. “What you see in the media rarely paints the full picture.”

“Is it true you live with your dad?”

I chuckle. “Yes, and that’s also why I took you to a hotel and not my place.”

“Aren’t you like twenty-eight? Why do you live with your dad?”

“Yes, I am twenty-eight.” I lift a shoulder. “He was going through a divorce, and I wasn’t earning a salary the year I was suspended, so it worked out to share a place. But truth be told, I’m ready for my own place. I haven’t had time to look since the season started. It’s more of an offseason task, I guess. What about you? What’s your place like?”

“I live with one of my best friends in San Diego.”

“My brother just moved there,” I say.

“Spencer?” she asks. When I nod, she says, “I’m excited to watch him play even if my dad isn’t coaching there anymore. I was raised a Storm fan.”

I lean in and softly bite her shoulder. “You better not be excited to watch him play.”

She snickers as she pushes my face away. “Why not?”

“For one thing, he’s a married man now.”

“So I can’t cheer for him?”

“No. You can’t cheer for him because you’ll be too busy cheering for me.”

She rolls her eyes even though a smile plays at her lips.

I lean in to press a soft kiss to her lips before I lower my mouth toward her ear. “And I better never fucking see you wearing someone else’s number ever again.”

I pull back and give her a pointed look.

She raises her brow in a challenge, despite the shiver that tears through her. “Why not?”

I run my hand along her torso and stop to give one of her tits a squeeze. “Because you’re mine, and I don’t share.”

Her eyes darken at my words. “Oh, I’m yours now?”

I shift until I’m hovering over her. I drop my lips to hers, and she wraps her hand around the back of my neck.

We’re both naked, and our bodies are lined up perfectly. It takes every single ounce of my willpower not to slip inside her.
