Seriously fucking crazy.

When the text messages had first started coming in, she’d tried to ignore them for as long as possible. Her man’s bed was so incredibly comfortable that all she’d wanted to do was snuggle here with him and be lazy for as long as possible. After twenty minutes of buzzing, she couldn’t keep it up. Starting to wonder if Winter was having a crisis or something, she caved and took a peek. Now she couldn’t fall back asleep to save her life.

“Just my mom acting bananas again.” Jazz turned on to her side to hug the naked man cuddling up next to her. She didn’t think she’d ever get tired of feeling Leo up. Even now, she couldn’t stop running her hands up and down his back. She loved the feel of him. “You know, you wouldn’t have to steal my pillow if you had more than two on this bed.”

“Are you trying to get me to buy a mound of them to put here like you have on yours?” Leo wrapped his arm around her, nuzzling his face into her hair.

“I didn’t say a mound. I just said more than two,” she argued, rubbing her nose into the skin on his chest. “You smell so good.”

“Wesmell like sex,” he groaned, squeezing her tight. “I can’t control myself around you.”

“How long do you think it will be like this?” she wondered aloud.

“I can’t see a day when Iwon’tfeel like I have to have you. Hell, I just have to fucking think about you and I’m hard as a rock. It doesn’t matter where I am either. You affect me. You always have.”

Leo stroked her wild hair out of her face, his eyes serious when they met her own. “Are you going to tell me what’s going on with the texts? Judging by the way you stiffened up, I’m guessing it’s nothing good.”

“I didn’t stiffen up,” she argued before realizing what she said was a lie. “Damnit! I know I did…but they drive me crazy.”

“Is everything okay?” he asked with a frown. “That was a lot of texting.”

She sat up, letting the blanket fall to her waist, exposing her breasts.

His eyes dropped to her tits before popping right back up to her face. He raised his eyebrow at her attempt to waylay this conversation. “You’re sneaky.”

“I know,” she grumbled, making a face at him for seeing through her machinations. She wasn’t trying to keep secrets, she just wasn’t keen on Leo seeing how fucked up things were with her parents.

“Spit it out.”

“My mom wants me to go to a dinner on the plaza tomorrow and was texting me the details.”

Leo sat up, studying her for a moment. He shrugged. “I’ll go with you if it’s a big deal. You don't have to face them alone. I have a nice suit I can wear and everything.”

“Oh, you don’t have to do that,” She laughed nervously, wiping her sweaty palms on the blankets around them. This situation was getting worse by the second.

He dropped a kiss on her shoulder. “It’s not a problem, sugar. Plus, I don’t like the idea of you making the drive by yourself so late. I know you love Silvy, but she’s a lot smaller than most of the cars on the turnpike.” Leo rubbed her back, oblivious to the turmoil that she was feeling at that very moment. “I have tomorrow off, so maybe we can make a day of it? I haven’t been to the Nelson in years, and I’ve heard the streetcar is pretty cool.”

Leo scooted off the bed and walked naked into the master bathroom. While he was gone, she tried to figure out how she was going to get out of this mess. She had no idea how to break it to her boyfriend that this wasn’t a normal dinner, and she was actually scheduled to go on a date with a recently divorced doctor.

Jazz cleared her throat. “That’s really sweet of you, but I don’t really want to go myself.” She looked up to see Leo braced against the doorway, still naked, brushing his teeth.

“Why not?” he mumbled, his mouth full of toothpaste.

“Well…ummm…this was something my parents set up and—” she twisted the blanket in her lap, unable to stop the nervous movements as she geared up to spill her guts.

Leo narrowed his eyes at her before holding up a finger in the universal gesture to wait a minute. Listening to him rinse and spit, she knew that her reprieve was just a short one. He knew her too well to not see when things were wigging her out.

When he walked back into the room and sat on the bed in front of her, she swallowed hard.

“What’s going on?” Leo leaned forward, bracing his elbows on his knees.

Jazz let go of the mangled bedding, the fabric damp from her hands, and blew out a deep breath.

“You’re starting to worry me, sugar.” He reached over and linked their fingers.

“I’m sorry. Just know that I didn’t know what she was doing,” she began, reaching for her phone on the nightstand.

“Now you’re really freaking me out. What. Is. Going. On?”
