They began to angle toward the bed, ripping clothes off, and then Dylan pushed her back onto the mattress. He slid up her naked body, dropping hot kisses all over her flushed skin. “I missed you so fucking much,” he said and scraped his teeth along her breast, drawing the nipple into his mouth and sucking.

When Hollis moaned and scraped her nails down his back, he ground his pelvis up between her legs, pushing his hard length against her wet core. “Do it,” she said and lifted her hips to meet his throbbing erection.

Despite wanting to draw the experience out, Dylan grabbed a condom and slipped it on with shaking hands. He wanted her too damn badly. He fisted his cock, lined it up and drove into her warmth. And, nothing ever felt so right when Hollis’s body tightened around him, as though welcoming him home.

With a cry, Hollis arched her back and drew him deeper. As he pounded into her, she held on tightly and ground her hips up in answer. “Faster,” she whispered and nipped his shoulder. He immediately complied, increasing his rhythm and reaching down between their bodies to rub her aching clit.

“You first,” he whispered.

“God,” she moaned and just the right amount of pressure from his finger sent her flying over the edge and into an abyss of pleasure. Her lower body jerked, clamped hard around him and she cried out at the intensity.

Dylan watched her come and nothing had ever looked so beautiful. Her head fell back, copper waves spread out beneath her head and all over his sheets like a fiery waterfall. The moment he gazed into her caramel eyes, his orgasm hit him hard. He erupted with a shudder, felt the jolt move through his entire body like a bolt of lightning. The intensity was overwhelming and delicious.

Breathing hard, he deposited the condom in the small trash can not far away then fell back into bed beside her and buried his face in her coconut-scented hair.

“Hollis,” he whispered, voice husky. He lifted a strand of her flaming red hair and kissed it. Hollis turned on the pillow to face him. God, this woman meant the world to him.Maybe it’s time to tell her, he thought. “I refuse to lose you. Ever again.”

Hollis looked into his dark chocolate eyes. “Are you going to kidnap me like some pirate?”

“If that’s what it takes,” he said and continued to play with her hair. After a moment, he let the strand go and reached for her hand, sliding his fingers through hers. “Because I think you should know that once I love someone, I don’t let go.”

His words made Hollis’s heart hammer.

“I love you, Hollis. Hell, I think I’ve loved you for longer than I even realized.”

Her smile warmed his heart. “I love you, too,” she murmured. “I fought my feelings for you a long time, but it finally hit me how good we are together. And, now I can’t imagine my life without you.”

“The last two months were-” his voice caught. “Really fucking lonely.”

“For me, too.”

“I want you to live with me. With us.” He looked over at Fisher who slept on his bed, snoring softly. “It doesn’t have to be here. We can get a house, whatever you want. But, I need you here in New Orleans with me.”

The thought of leaving Florida had never occurred to Hollis. She always imagined she’d live her entire life there. But, now a life of adventure with Dylan called to her and she was ready to take the plunge. “I’d like that,” she whispered.

He opened his mouth, on the verge of persuading her why he couldn’t live without her, when she readily accepted. “Well, that was easier than I thought it would be.”

Hollis leaned forward and brushed her lips across his. “I don’t want to argue with you anymore. I’m going to use my mouth for other, more creative things. If that’s okay with you?”

“Perfectly fine with me,” he said. When she began to slide down his body, flicking her tongue against his skin, Dylan fell back against the pillows with a soft sigh of anticipation.

Later, after making up for lost time in Dylan’s apartment, they went down to the bar. The place was jam packed and the band was in full swing, Chase still jamming on the drums.

“C’mon,” Dylan said. “Let’s get you a drink.” He led her to the bar and the bartender immediately came over with a couple of beers. Dylan clinked his bottle against Hollis’s and they each took a drink.

Beside Hollis, two locals who had drunk too much began to talk a little too loudly.

“It’s in Galveston, Texas,” the one with the beard said. “That’s where his ship sank.”

“Everyone knows he buried the treasure up the bayou. Around his old plantation.”

Hollis’s ears perked at the word “treasure” and she glanced over as one of the inebriated locals shoved a finger against a small map on the bar. There were several X’s marking different locations.

She leaned in closer to listen to their conversation.

“Jean LaFitte’s smuggling route ended there. It’s a damned no-brainer that he buried it before he fled New Orleans.”

Eyes bright, she turned back to Dylan. “Are you hearing this?” she whispered.
