“Wait, can we?” Hollis thought Americans couldn’t visit Cuba.

“Technically, it’s not illegal for Americans to travel to Cuba as long as you get the proper paperwork,” Hiro said. “But, it is illegal to spend money there.”

“We don’t have time to do this the legal way,” Dylan said. “We’ll be in and out before anyone even knows. What could possibly go wrong?” He flashed that crooked smile and Hollis’s stomach flipped.

What could possibly go wrong, indeed.I could fall for you,she thought, caught in his dark chocolate gaze. Fall hard and fast.

“Don’t worry,” Hiro said. “I’ll babysit, Fish.” Fisher gave a soft woof.

They started back into the main cabin, deciding on a plan, completely unaware of the small button-like object tucked below the window ledge that Tony had planted earlier.

“I actually came into some interesting information about the 13th ship. I could use a partner. Whattya say? For old times’ sake?”

“Last time we were partners, you left me high and dry. Remember?”

“Yeah, guess I never apologized for that. What can I say? I was young and stupid. We both were. C’mon, Dylan, I know what’s going on and I think you should forget about Hollis and work with me.”

When Dylan didn’t respond, Tony stood up. But, not before he attached the small, button-like listening device to the underside of the ledge. “If you’re not comfortable about being partners, at least let me hire you. I can put a $25,000 retainer fee in your account tonight. Any finds, I’ll give you half. To make up for last time.”

“That’s a very generous offer.”

“Think about it.”

Not far away, somewhere in the marina on his boat, Tony listened to their conversation through headphones. As they moved away from the bug, their voices faded.

But, Tony had already heard where they were headed and who they planned to visit. He pulled off the headphones. A dangerous glint lit his eyes as he picked up a gun, tucked it in the back of his waistband and turned to the instrument panel to set the course for Cuba.

He was done playing nice.

Neither Dylan nor Hollis wanted to team up with him so fuck them. The file folder he stole from Hollis sat open on the table before him. He flipped through it, but had no idea where to start and needed their help.

And, if they weren’t willing to give it, he’d resort to more drastic measures.

After all, a half a million dollars was at stake. And Tony would love nothing more than to find it and flaunt that treasure in his father’s face.

Chapter Eight

TheFortune & Gloryleft Florida and headed South toward the island of Cuba. Dylan steered the boat and Hollis sat beside him, the wind and ocean spray blowing in an open side window. As she pulled her hair up into a high, messy bun, Dylan glanced over, momentarily distracted.

For the tenth time in the last hour, he thought about how gorgeous she looked and his cock wholeheartedly agreed. He tried to ignore its throbbing as the sun hit her copper hair in the most amazing way. It looked like molten gold. And, all he wanted to do was run his hands through every strand as he kissed her senseless.

Dylan shifted in his seat, trying to ignore the pressure building against his zipper, and dragged his eyes back to the open waters ahead. If he wasn’t careful, this woman could be his undoing.

“Have you read everything in the folder?” she asked.

“At least ten times,” he said, grateful for the conversation so he could focus on other things. Things that didn’t involve slowly undressing Chaz Quinn’s daughter.

“And, what do you think?”

“I think if we can use the translations from the French Captain to re-navigate the course then we’ll find her.” She nodded, and he ran a hand along his scruffy jaw. “But, even if we find the ship, once we report it, Florida’s going to take everything.”

“Not under Admiralty Law.”

Dylan arched a brow. “The Mel Fisher days are over. No more finders keepers.”

“Unless you can secure Admiralty actions under the salvage law. Which my Dad did.”

His dark eyes widened. “Son of a bitch.”
