Asa shoved his hands in his coat pockets and shook his head.
“What if you chicken out again?” he asked.
“Then I expect you to kick my ass and tell me to get back in there,” André answered honestly.
“Oh, I’m gonna be there when it happens, huh?” Asa chuckled.
André nodded. “Where do you think we’re headed?”
Asa twisted his neck to gape at André. “Now? You’re asking her right now?”
André just smiled and kept walking.
Yes. He was asking her as soon as he saw her.
They reached André’s car and got inside. He started it up along with the seat warmer and then turned slightly to face Asa.
“I have no reason to wait, Asa. I’m not afraid. I love her and she loves me. What else is there?”
Asa stared at him a beat. “All right, man. But if you hurt her…”
André smiled wide. “I fully expect you to ruin my life.”

She pushed the shelf back into place and stood up.
Having that storage in the back wall of her office was the best thing that ever happened to her.
Okay, maybe not thebestthing. But it had to be in the top five.
It saved her time and money and space… Three things that were so hard to come by most days.
“Nik.”
And there was the real best thing that had ever happened to her. She smiled at the soft way he said her name, as if he didn’t want to disturb her.
She turned around and her smile grew when she saw André standing in the doorway of her office. His coat was tucked under one arm and both hands were shoved in his pockets.
“Hey, you,” she greeted. “How was lunch with Asa?”
He scanned her up and down and smiled. “Good. Are you busy?”
She waggled her eyebrows. “Not anymore.”
He chuckled and crossed to the sofa, depositing his coat over the arm.
“Should I lock the door or…?” she asked, slowly making her way in his direction.
He held out a hand to her. “Come here.”
She took it and he sat her down on the sofa while he remained standing.
She narrowed her eyes at him. “What’s going on? You’re being weird.”
He flashed a smile and then schooled his features. “Stop being cute. I’m trying to be serious.”
