Her arms came around his neck and he lifted her up as he deepened the kiss. The room surrounding them grew loud with whistles and hollers.

He lowered her back to her feet but kept kissing her.

This incredible, amazing, excitable woman loved him. And it wasn’t a normal kind of love. It was bright and boundless, just like her.

“This was for you,” he said, remembering the rose. But it was all beat to hell and only had a few bruised petals left on it. He grimaced. “Sorry. It didn’t start out like that.”

She laughed as he chucked it onto a nearby table.

Then he gathered her in his arms and kissed her some more. Trying to pour all of his love and relief into it that he could.

“You made it.”

André heard his sister, but he wasn’t quite done kissing Nikki. He pressed one more kiss to her lips. Again. One more time. Nikki smiled and a small giggle rippled through her that he had the privilege of feeling in his arms and where her soft body was still pressed to his.

“Yes, he made it,” Nikki said, soft and sweet, looking up at him the same way.

André took a deep, stabilizing breath, finding that solid ground in Nikki’s eyes before turning his attention to Sabine and Sunshine.

Sabine’s smile was of the all-knowing sister variety, and she waggled her eyebrows.

André had told Sabine via text that he and Nikki were together, but this was her first time seeing them together. And it was a lot better in person than in text alone.

“Did you see him?” Sabine asked, her mood shifting slightly.

She didn’t need to specify to whom she was referring.

“He was at my place when I got there,” André said. It still didn’t feel real.

“What did he tell you?” Sabine asked.

“That he was ‘in town’ and wanted to chat.” He narrowed his eyes at his sister. “What did he tell you?”

She rolled her eyes and curled a lip. “He wanted to know if Dave likes soccer.”

André scrunched his nose. “That dodgy tosser.”

Sabine snorted.

“He was fired,” he told her. “Which means he’s trying to use your rock star husband to get him back in with the owners. What a wanker.”

Nikki gave him a squeeze and his irritation melted away again.

He didn’t need to worry about his dad. The man could ruin his own life.

“Let’s talk about you,” he said, tipping Nikki’s chin up towards him. “I am so proud of you.”

She grinned and tugged on his suspender strap. “No, I think I want to hear you say more words like wanker.”

Fucking hell.

“You can’t flirt with me like that in public, Nicole,” he said. She pressed her lips together and bounced a little on her toes. “I will embarrass us both.”

“You could never embarrass me,” she said, with a smile tempting him to be less than decent in her workplace.

“You’d embarrass me,” Sabine said. “So please don’t.”

“You’re always wearing suspenders. I like that.” Sunshine spoke up.
