Priest grabbed for Linc’s shoulder. Priest was cleaned up of all the blood, but not for long when Linc turned and popped Priest in the nose with a hard fist.

“Linc!” Nova cried out. “Stop this!”

After wiping blood from under his nose Priest looked ready to kill. Cyrus came from prayer, looked around, and told Priest to get a drink and ordered Linc into prayer.

Doors slammed, glass shattered, all of which to Slade was just a normal night in the clubhouse. His mind rushed right back to Nelle. He wondered just how fucking stupid of a man he could be. Leaving her alone in the bedroom. Leaving her to herself to shower.Alone.The water hitting her body. To hell with the notion that this cum would have to be washed off her freshly tattooed ass cheek.

See? Stupid decisions and feelings all mix together…

Slade caught his mind and stopped it right there. He did not have feelings for Nelle. Nor would he ever. There was a…

Slade glanced back and saw Nova still standing in the middle of the clubhouse floor, looking rattled.

“Hey, Nova, come over here,” Slade said.

When Nova realized it was Slade who had said her name, she felt relief. Not much though. There was never a true sense of relief in the outlaw world. Just pockets of being drunk, horny, and maybe the occasional smile.

Slade ordered Nova a drink and she sat down.

“He wants to fight everyone,” Nova said.

“We all get like that.”

“What can you tell me about Javen?”

The name made Slade freeze. Chills touched his spine. He swallowed hard. All of which he didn’t mean to do in such an obvious way in front of Nova.

“So it’s that important…” she whispered.

“You know there are certain things I cannot and will not talk about.”

“You want to know why yourVPwants to kill everyone right now?”

“Why’s that?” Slade asked.

“Something happened with Javen.”

Slade grabbed for Nova’s right hand. He squeezed. He didn’t mean to do that. Any of it.

“Is he hurt?” Slade growled.

“See? You know him. Fuck this place. Fuck you all for your secrets.”

Nova pulled her hand away.

“It’s not my place,” Slade said. “Give Linc a chance with it.”

Nova nodded. “Okay. He means a lot to Linc. And to you. So I’m assuming he’s part of the club somehow. And he’s in prison. Well, what happened today? I guess Linc had been dealing with a lawyer on Javen’s behalf and things went bad. I don’t know if there was a chance at a hearing or parole or something? I don’t know what any of this is. But Linc got a phone call from the lawyer and it wasn’t good. So he lost his mind.”

“Fuck,” Slade said.

“That’s all you have to say?”

“That’s all I can say,” Slade said as he stood up. He towered over Nova. “You need to be there for your man. No matter what. You’ll know when he wants you to know.”

“Sometimes I really hate this fucking place, Slade,” Nova said.

Slade nodded.“Sometimes I really hate this fucking place too.”
