I gave a slight shrug. “My only guess would be Crawford’s son. He’s been playing this game, trying to disrupt our families.”

Calvin nodded. “For now, let him.”

“Why?” I asked, and he shook his head.

“I know Luca’s game… and he’s ahead for sure. But he’s emotional and reckless. Soon, the truth will be revealed, but when we reveal the truth about him... he will retaliate. I’d rather prepare for how we’re going to approach this than worry about why he’s doing it in the first place. With the Newmans officially out of the picture, our prime focus is on Delilah and Archer.”

Chapter fifty-eight

Delilah

Walking out of Kimi’s bathroom, I did a twirl in her mirror to see how my dress looked. It was baby blue and a bit on the tighter side while my sleeves were looser. My hair held large curls in a low ponytail, and it was all accompanied by a pair of white heels with a bow and a white purse, both of which I stole from Kimi’s closet. I had a necklace as well as matching earrings, and I couldn’t forget the diamond bracelet my Prince Charming forced onto my wrist... not that I quite minded.

Kimiko sat at the edge of her bed and sighed. “There is no reason those heels look better on you than on me. And no, you can’t keep them,” she muttered, and I giggled.

“No need to flatter me, Kimi. And yes, they will be promptly returned to you soon.”

Looking at her nails, she smirked. “Judging from the white lingerie set you bought while we were at the mall today, I’d say it will be a little later than soon,” she said, raising her eyebrows suggestively, and I groaned in embarrassment as I recalled my attempt to hide it from both her and our bodyguards.

“I... just think it would be fun to wear it tonight.”

She shrugged. “Yeah, fun for Archer, maybe. Slightly uncomfortable for you, though,” she muttered, and I rolled my eyes as I grabbed the nearest pillow and threw it at her. She dodged it swiftly and looked outside of her window. “Loverboy is here. Tell him I said his windows need to be washed,” she said, eyeing his car, and I shook my head as I bid her goodbye and headed for the door.

Looking over my shoulder, I waved to Uncle Shin, who was in a heated game of mahjong with Sterling.

“Bye, Uncle Shin; bye, Sterling,” I said.

Sterling waved me away, annoyed as he seemed to be in the process of getting beat. Uncle Shin, looking as calm as ever, sent me a genuine wave as Sterling continued to concentrate.

Awww, they grow up so fast.

I exited their home to see Archer leaning against the door of his car with his eyes already on me. Once I was in arm’s reach, he pulled me in and placed a passionate kiss on my lips.

I sighed heavily. This is what I missed. Over the past few days, I’d been at home helping my father with his work and balancing my classes online. In the midst of all of that, there was something I definitely missed…I missed him.

Pulling away, Archer looked down at my attire and squeezed my waist.

“You don’t know what you do to me, Princess. Did you get all dressed up for me, hmm?” he asked, and I nodded, playing with the collar of his shirt. “I don’t know how I’ll be able to keep my hands off you tonight,” he muttered, and I bit my lip as he placed a kiss on my neck. “I’ll probably like you even more out of this little dress than in it… but we’ll save that for later,” he muttered, and a smile came to my face as he opened the door for me.

Upon entering, I looked over at him as he sat beside me. “Kimi said your car windows look spotless.”

He rolled his eyes as he knew she said the opposite. “Tell her she needs to clean her room,” he replied, and I laughed as I laid my head on his shoulder.

Soon, we reached the restaurant, and he exited the car and held his hand out for me to take. We walked hand in hand to the door, and the hostess took us to our seats. It wasn’t crowded, but we’d definitely received a few stares.

“Hi. My name is Grant, and I’ll be your server for today. Can I get you both something to start off with?” he asked.

I did my best to look directly at the menu and not at the man, as I could feel his eyes solely on me. Looking up, I could see Archer with a slight smirk, as he could tell the waiter was also staring.

“Two glasses of water and a bottle of champagne will be fine,” Archer ordered, and the server walked away, nodding.

Grabbing Archer’s hand from across the table, I rubbed the back of it.

“Don’t be angry,” I whispered, and he laughed humorlessly.

“You look too fucking good, that’s why. Little does he know how close I was to punching him in the face.”

Continuing to rub his hand as I held back a smile, he finally relaxed after a moment or two. When the waiter returned, we placed our orders and continued talking about nothing in particular.
