“We think you’re ready. You’re perfect, Ace,” he said, as his hand ran down my arm. I got the feeling he wasn’t only referring to my music. He hadn’t used that nickname for me in days, and it felt good and familiar. I loved it.

His gaze was mesmerizing, and I fell under his spell. I couldn’t help myself. The man did things to my thought process, to that link between my thoughts and my mouth.

“Fine. I’ll bring it, but that doesn’t mean I’ll play. I’m only doing this for the free ride. Nothing else.”

His eyebrow raised. “Nothing?”

He’d somehow gotten even closer.

“Nothing,” I said, totally lying.

The driver tapped the horn, and it broke our spell.

We both took a step back.

“I’ll get it and be right out,” I told him.

“Great,” he said and turned on his heel before he walked off the porch and slipped into the car, leaving the door open for me.

I retrieved my violin and bow and slipped them into the case, tugged on my jacket over my creamy low-cut, sleeveless shirt, and black short skirt. My powder-blue lacy bra peeked out from my shirt, and I wore black stockings held up with a lacey garter belt, and black cowgirl boots with red flowers emblazoned down the sides of each boot. I’d pulled my hair up on one side, but other than that, it hung down my back in soft curls.

I took a moment to slip out of my panties, stuffing them into my small purse, and decided that I looked positively stunning and felt sexy as hell. I puckered my lips and blew a bright-red kiss to the girl in the hall mirror before I dashed out the front door.

I had no idea where this night would lead, but wherever it took me, I wouldn’t let it deter me from my goal.

At the moment, I had no idea what that goal might be, but I hoped like hell it included sex with Austin. At least I was prepared for that much.

So yes, the boys and I briefly discussed what was going on with Liberty. We all wanted her not only in our beds, but we also wanted her to stay. None of us knew where this crazy thing would go, but we all knew we didn’t want it to end anytime soon. From the way she looked at me earlier tonight, I knew she wanted us to pick up where we left off the last time we were together inside Dirty Coyote.

“Here we go,” Kasey said as we pulled up to the back door of the dance hall.

Our bodyguard, Jim, sat in the front seat and would get out before us.

The usual group of fans were waiting for us. Liberty’s eyes were as wide as saucers as she gazed out at all the screaming fans. If you weren’t used to it, seeing all those folks who wanted to tear at you could be scary as hell.

“Is it like this every time you play here?” Liberty asked, her voice sounding shaky.

“Don’t worry,” I told her, reaching out and taking her hand as she sat next to me. “These fans won’t hurt you. They’re usually respectful and just want a picture or a video.”

“Sometimes we stop, but most of the time, we just go right in,” Boone said.

“Tell you what, you and Austin can go right in,” Kasey said. “Might be easier for you, Liberty. Boone and I will hang out for a bit.”

“Okay,” she said. Then she turned to me. “But don’t let go of my hand.”

“Never,” I told her, and in that moment, I damn well meant it.

When our driver stopped the car, Jim got out and opened our door. Boone and Kasey got out first, then Liberty and I were right behind them.

Boone and Kasey stopped to sign a few autographs and take a few pictures while I made my way into the stage door of the dance hall with Liberty by my side. Our fans let us walk through without a hitch, and I was thankful for that.

I led her to the same backroom we were in the last time we were here, but this time, the situation was much different.

As soon as we walked into the private room, I let go of her hand.

“This looks familiar,” she said with a little chuckle. “Seems like we’ve been here before.”
