Page 26 of Fear Me, Love Me

“Tyrant. I want my brother,” she whispers, tears filling her eyes.

She’s said that to me a dozen times. Angrily. Desperately. Defiantly. But never as brokenly as she sounds now. I wet my lips, wondering whether it’s finally time to offer her everything she craves.

I can get her brother likethat.

I take hold of her jaw and make her look at me. “This is Henson. My town. I’ll fix everything for you, angel. All you have to do is trust me. Do you trust me?”

Vivienne sucks slowly on her lower lip, gazing up at me.

She still not sure? Then I’ll keep convincing her. Vivienne needs to start thinking about our future.

I fish something out of my pocket, show it to her, and place it on her pillow.

Then I press my mouth to hers in a hungry kiss. “Be a good girl for Tyrant and take the test. I’m aching to know if I’m going to be a daddy.”

I leave the dorms via the stairs and the front door, drawing several wide-eyed looks from random students. It doesn’t matter if they recognize me and tattle to security. The moment Vivienne tells me she’s pregnant, I’m taking her out of this place and bringing her home. I can picture the moment. I cantasteit. Everything will change, and she’ll finally be mine.

But that’s for later.

Right now I’m going to do something about all those tears she shed.

The closer I come to the Stone residence, the stronger my anger surges. When I’m parked across the street, the house looks silent. Night has fallen and the road is in darkness except for intermittent pools of streetlight.Tyrant’s slutis still scrawled across the front of the house, and it makes my blood boil as I wonder who’s going out of their way to hurt my woman.

I glare at the house for going on forty minutes, and then a car comes down the street and turns into the Stones’ driveway. It’s Owen Stone, and he’s alone when he gets out of the car, collects a can of paint from the trunk, and heads over to the graffiti scrawled on his house.

I get out of my SUV and approach him silently. I don’t speak until I’m three feet behind him. “Doing some home maintenance?”

Stone whirls around and his eyes widen in fear. He starts to back away, but there’s nowhere for him to go. “I’ve got your money. I’ll give you your mon—”

I grasp him by the front of his shirt and yank him to me, snarling. “You’re a liar, Stone. You haven’t got shit.”

“I’ll have it soon. Any day now.”

He couldn’t pay back what he owes me—what he owes Vivienne—if he shat solid gold for the rest of his life.

“Do you know how I deal with people who don’t pay their debts? First I break their legs. Then I slit their throats. Do you know why I haven’t done that to you?”

He swallows hard.

“I saiddo you?”

“V-V-Vivienne?” he stammers.

Like it’s a fucking question.

I pull back my fist and smash it across his face. When he crumples onto the ground, I pull back my foot and kick him in the stomach. His groan is almost satisfying.

Standing over him, I wonder where I’ll inflict more pain.

“I’ll get you your—”

I kick him again, this time in the balls. I don’t want his fucking money. I want him to stop punishing his daughter when she’s already punishing herself enough. I want himdead. Him and his fucking wife, and then there’ll be nothing stopping me from giving Vivienne everything she wants.

Leaning down, I grab hold of Stone, pull him to his feet, and shove him face-first into the graffiti.

“You’re a coward, Stone. A piece of fucking scum. I had a low-life shit like you for a father as well and nothing was ever his fault. I’m here to give you an education. Whose fault is it you owe me money?”

“Mine, but I didn’t—ahh.”
