“Nah,” he frowned and shook his head, smiling a little at me. “I got the hots for her, but not as much as you do.” He winked again and opened the door yelling, “Love you bro,” as he left.

The door clicked shut and I had to think about what he had just implied. He knew, he fucking knew. Without a doubt. I assumed he could tell by the way I looked and the way I said her name. I stupidly asked if he was going after her and that was all it took for him to know I was interested.

And yet, he said he would back off—for me.

I wasn't going to admit anything to him, ever. He probably knew neither of us were good enough for her, but if by thinking I stood a chance or cared kept him away from her, then I accepted that.

Grabbing my phone, I walked to the door and locked it, then headed to the bedroom. I had already showered at the complex after practice, so I flopped into my bed and relished the quiet.

Then I grabbed my phone and shot off a text.

Ty: What are you wearing?
