“Stay out of it.” Daxon barked at his son.

“What? Like you stayed out of my engagement?” Dylan shot back with a glare.

“An engagement that is still happening, but it's postponed because of the pregnancy complications.” Daxon ordered as he looked from his son and towards me. “This marriage will still go on.”

His words stung, but he was right. I doomed myself to be in a loveless marriage and the man who got me pregnant wanted that. He wanted his son to put a ring on my finger that symbolized everything I wanted from him. But he can never give me.

So, I snapped back. “Fine, but I’m not moving in with you.”

Daxon stepped forward and grabbed my chin. He tilted my face up to meet his determined eyes, and they glimmered with challenge. He licked his lip and bit it as his frustration rose with me. I could tell he wanted to do bad things to me, but Dylan was right there.

When did that stop him?

“I’ll carry you into my house kicking and screaming if I have to.” Daxon hissed.

I pushed his hand off my chin and walked away from him. “You’re not the boss of me, Daxon.”

“But he is the father of your babies.” Dylan interrupted.

“Dylan, I’m sorry for everything that happened, but you really need to mind your own business right now.” I snapped and lost my cool with him.

“Oh, right, I’m not on daddy duty right now.” Dylan said as he threw his hands up in the air and raised his eyebrows. “Good luck with the mom-to-be, but I’m out of here.”

Just like that, Dylan left the room, and I was alone with his father. A man who wanted control and everything his way. And right now, he wanted his babies.

“Come and stay with me, Celeste.” Daxon pleaded as he stepped closer and knelt down on his knees. “We can’t be together, but I have an obligation to my children and I won’t have them anywhere other than my home.”

His hands laid on either side of my belly and he pressed his ear up against it. He listened to them move and he could hear my heartbeat. It beat for him and longed for him. Everything in me craved him, but he only wanted my children.

“But what about me, Daxon?” I sighed with emotion.

He looked up at me and his eyes shone with something I couldn’t describe, but it wasn’t for me. It was for the babies as he looked back at my stomach and he slowly stroked it. His touch was everything to me and everything I wanted him to give me. But it was all for our children.

He looked at my stomach with adoration and whispered to them. “You are my obligation and you are a part of mommy. You will all live with daddy so I can take care of you. Mommy just needs to agree.”

His love for them was pure. It was the truest thing out of this whole mess and he wanted to give my children that. He wanted to cherish them like they were the most important things in the world. I couldn’t take that away from them. Our children deserve everything. I just had to push my love for him aside and do what was right. I had to let Daxon be their father.

I touched his gorgeous hair, and he looked up at me. His eyes were no longer frustrated and pleaded with me to agree. He needed this, and I wanted it deep down. But my heart would always ache for him.

I smiled and whispered. “Okay, we will move in with you.”

“Really?” He asked with excitement and looked down at my belly. “Mommy has finally come to her senses.”

I giggled and pushed his hair aside. He got to his feet with a huge smile and lifted me off the floor. It swept me up in him as he kissed my forehead and his eyes locked on my mouth. He wanted to kiss me and I wanted it more than anything, but we’ve learned from our mistake. Anyone could walk in here at any moment.

I cleared my throat and spoke. “This is for our children and we should stick to that from now on.”

Daxon placed me back on my feet and breathed. “We can try, but we both know it won’t last, princess.”

He was right.

No matter how much we tried, the temptation was too strong. It pulled us together, and we always gave into it. We lit the match and created a fire. But it never burnt out.

We were going to be living under the same roof and around each other every day. I had to learn to resist him and I knew he would tempt me because he always did. He was reckless, powerful, and undeniable. Living with Daxon Stark was my next challenge, and I knew he’d want to break all the rules.
