“What?”

“I was testing him, making sure he deserved you,” Eli explains.

“That’s ridiculous! He’s been here for days, and you didn’t tell me, but you’ve been hanging out with him?”

“Literally,” Jordan says with a grin. “He had me strung up in the basement.”

Holy shit. He’s been here, under the same roof and I had no idea because Eli kept it from me.

“Oh my god. I’m so sorry.”

“It wasn’t all bad, was it, Eli?” Jordan responds.

“Does he have any physical injuries other than cuff marks on his wrists? No. See? He’s fine,” Eli mutters as I take Jordan’s hand and examine the angry red indentions on his skin where metal cuffs must have been. “We just fooled around, finally fucked.”

“You fooled around for days and didn’t tell me he was literally hanging out in the casino’s basement?”

“Fine,” Eli huffs, his breath blowing against the back of my head. “I didn’t want you to throw me out of your bed for Jordan, even if all we did was cuddle.”

“Looked like more than cuddling when I came in,” Jordan remarks.

“How the fuck did you even get free and up here? It’s impossible,” Eli says.

“Oh, I just happened to meet Maddie’s sister and stepbrother.”

“You met Cass and Cole?” I ask.

Tracing my lips with his finger, Jordan tells me, “They came down to the basement for some privacy. It took me a while to convince them of who I was and that I wasn’t a threat to your father or being tortured on his orders since I was half-naked. Finally, they let me down.”

“They saw you half-naked?” I question him.

“Yes. And the funny thing is, they weren’t even shocked.” Gently bopping my nose with his fingertip, he says, “Your family is crazy, baby.”

“No kidding. And really, you should sneak out before one of the guards tells Daddy you’re here and then he catches you and Eli in my room.”

I try to sit up, but Eli pulls me back down to the mattress.

“Your sister told the guards that I was her and Cole’s guest and they bought it, so I think we’re safe for a little while.”

“You don’t know anything about my sister or the guards if you think you can trust them not to run their mouth.”

“Your sister seemed nice,” Jordan remarks, making me scoff.

“Oh my god.” Twisting around to see Eli’s face, I ask, “Did you drug him?”

“What? No. I did make sure to feed and water him again.”

“You talk about feeding and watering him like he was your pet?”

“That’s what he is, my pet. I bathed him too.”

“You bathed him?”

“Sponge bath,” Jordan explains as if it’s no big deal. “Trust me, I was just happy to wash the smell away. He even put some deodorant on me.”

“How kind of him,” I mutter sarcastically.

“Right? I thought so too,” Jordan says sounding like he’s being sincere. “He also brought me someone to talk to.”
