I shake my head violently.

“Look. At. Me.” It emphasizes each syllable with an anger-filled growl.

I shake my head again and tears scorch my skin when they slide down my face.

“LOOK AT ME.” It shrieks.

My eyes fly open as the feel of something slithering over my arms and legs. Dark shadows wrap around me and trap my body where it sits. I thrash against them but it's no use.

A hand with long, skeletal fingers grips my jaw and I’m forced to face the creature.

Its eyes pierce into my very soul but I’m at its complete mercy. My body refuses to cooperate when I try my damned hardest to close my eyes.

“You think that boy will come to save you? You’renothing. He didn’t even fight for you. He threw you away like the disgusting, sad excuse of a woman you are. He will never come for you.”

“Pl – please let me go,” I beg.

Its head tips back and it laughs demonically before disappearing.

The shadows release me, and I scramble away from the wall and toward the direction of the door.

My fists pound and pound until they scream in pain. My throat is raw from my terror-filled shrieks. I have no tears left to stream down my face.

“Please let me out! Please! Please!”

“Boo.”

I jump and let out a yelp at the sound of Liam’s voice inches from my ear. Spinning around, his face is gleaming with a wide grin.

Playfully, I slap his chest. “You scared me!” I scold.

His hand wraps around my wrist and he pulls me into him. I go willingly, and he cups the back of my head. His lips meet mine gently before he presses our foreheads together.

“I missed you,” he whispers.

“I missed you too.”

Liam was sent with Finn on an assignment and has been gone for the past two months. We’ve spent hours texting and talking on the phone, but nothing tops the feeling of being in his arms and having his lips pressed to mine.

“How were your photoshoots?” he asks, before plopping himself on my blanket in the garden.

This has becomeourplace. Liam knows if he can’t find me in the house, I’m here. He’ll spend as much time as possible with me until he’s pulled away for work.

My heart soars with each touch of his skin on mine and each wink he shoots my way.

We’ve had to hide our relationship from Declan and my father. He’s still pushing me toward Ryan but since my father hasn’t gone out and said it’s for an arranged marriage, I’ve put little effort in talking to him.

Declan would murder Liam if he ever knew about us. His bloodlust is reaching scary levels, and I don’t dare put Liam in his sights. It seems as though Declan spends more time in his cellar than anywhere else. He always looks crazed until after he’s been down there.

“What are you doin’?” Liam asks, jutting his chin toward the journal in my lap.

I slam it shut and slide it under my lap.

“Nothing. Just writing.”

His eyes fill with amusement, “writin’, eh? Let me see.”

When he goes to reach for the journal I quickly jump to my feet and run away from him.
