There was a knock on the door, and I pushed the handle down and yanked it open to see my Grandmother and Mum standing beside the door. They both began speaking at the same time, telling me what happened. I glanced at the sorry state of the door before I looked back at them.

“But Dad just told me he was fine about me choosing Cyrus,” I said confused at what took place.

My Grandmother rolled her eyes. “I have a feeling that Harrison was involved in winding Cyrus up.”

I began to chuckle and hugged them both. I had a crazy family, but I loved them all. My Mum sighed heavily.

“My baby is all grown up and marrying her very own serial killer,” she said, which made my Grandmother cackle.

My Grandmother would have filled my Mum in on everything I’d told her.

“I told you she took after me,” she said before she walked to the dresser and held my veil up. “Let’s get you married, Angel.”

Yeah, I loved my family.

???

My Grandmother had bought me a diamond necklace set. My mum gave me a sapphire and diamond flower-shaped hairpin. For something borrowed, I had one of my Grandmother’s favourite knives strapped to my thigh. We had four generations of Molloy's at the wedding. I put my hand over my belly and realised that my baby would join the line along with my cousin's children.

“You got everything you wanted, Angel. At least things didn't get bloody like they did between me and your Grandfather. I was a little less civil when I was younger. I could have handled things differently,” my Grandmother said as we walked down the stairs.

“You don't give yourself enough credit, Valeria. Do you think you could have collared Harrison if youhadn'tbeen the way you were?”

“Mmm, that’s a valid point,” she said. “At that time, he deserved to get stabbed.”

I snickered because I’d heard the story a million times, and I never got tired of it. My Grandmother used to tell me it when I was a kid, but she changed the names. I always wanted to grow up and be as badass as the heroine in her stories, not realising they were stories about her and my Grandad.

“I love you both so much. Thank you for making me so badass that I found my soulmate,” I said to the two women I adored. “I wouldn’t have been as brave.”

“Oh, now you've done it,” my Grandmother said as she pulled out some tissues and handed one to my Mum.

“What’s the hold-up? I need to drink this day away,” my Dad muttered as he paced at the top of the staircase.

“We love you too, baby. I hope you move back home soon. I want to be there for your babies,” my Mum said with a sniffle before she hugged me.

My Grandmother kissed my cheek.

“I see so much of myself in you, but you, my love, have much more light in you than I ever had. I wish you decades of joy with Cyrus, my Angel,” she said before she wiped her tears away.

Before I could say anything, my Dad came storming towards us and took my hand to pull me away from them.

“You will not make my baby cry on her wedding day,” he said before he held my hands and looked me up and down.

“No, we have you to do that,” my Grandmother snapped at him.

My Dad’s eyes began to mist up.

“You look beautiful, princess,” he choked out.

I put my arms around him and hugged him.

“Thank you for not killing him,” I whispered.

“The day isn’t over yet,” he said, making me chuckle.

We were over the worst of it, I think.
