“You will watch your Goddamn mouth to our elders while you're under my roof, Mr Molloy,” I snarled at him.

“Oi, less of the elder,” Valeria said, sounding disgruntled. “But he does have impeccable manners, Alejandro.”

“I know I’m not good enough for your daughter, but I will spend every day cherishing her for being the miracle that she is. I don't give a rat's ass if you approve of our marriage or not, but if you loved your daughter, you wouldn't be here creating a scene or have caused her so much anxiety by behaving like an immature child rather than communicating with her like an adult.”

“Oh, he’s good,” Valeria said as she removed the knife from between our faces. “I don't think I will need this.”

Alejandro narrowed his eyes at me before he slowly stepped back to point a finger at me. “If my baby sheds a single teardrop from anything you do or if you lay a finger on her through violence, there won't be a corner on this earth that you could hide in without me finding you.”

His wife snorted.

“Really, Alejandro?” she said.

“Double standards, Serafina,” Valeria said to her. “Right, get out, the pair of you, and try to close the broken door. My Angel deserves some privacy to finish getting ready. This isherspecial day.”

I glanced at Valeria and Serafina to apologise, but they were both grinning at me.

“Fucking American serial killing amateur fucks, we started that shit with the likes of Jack the Ripper,” Alejandro muttered under his breath before he walked over to his wife to kiss her. “Mum, you can keep your knife in your handbag for the rest of the ceremony.”

As dark as Alejandro was, his wife was blonde-haired and green-eyed. He was around the same height as me, a little over six foot but his wife was at least a foot shorter. Irrespective of his brutish behaviour, I saw his eyes soften for his wife. I kept my eyes on him as he left the room. I walked towards the bathroom, and Serafina moved to stand in my path.

“Just one moment, please,” I said until she nodded.

I touched the wooden door, knowing my Angel was standing on the other side.

“Are you okay, Angel?” I asked softly.

“Yes, but what’s happening out there? What was that noise? Did my Dad hit you?” she fretted.

“I may have gotten a little over-excited and broke our bedroom door. Nothing happened, and your Dad didn't hit me. We seem to have reached an—understanding,” I said, trying to reassure her. “I will be waiting for you, baby, always.”

“I can't wait to marry you, Cyrus,” she said with a sniff.

“And I you, Angel. Don't be too long,” I said as my hand dropped away from the door.

I cleared my throat, but when I turned towards Serafina, she had tears pooling up in her eyes, and I began to back away from her, only to feel a slap on the back from Valeria.

“You will do just fine, Cyrus. Don't worry about a thing. We will take care of her. Just stick with Harrison,” she said, patting my arm.

When I looked at the door, Harrison stood there with a grin on his face.

Had he been there the entire time?

I had to wonder if the old man had instigated the entire situation. Then again, it didn't matter because I’d had it out with her Dad, and he loved his daughter almost as much as I did.

I nodded to the ladies.

“Apologies for the intrusion,” I murmured before I walked out of the door trying to close the broken one first before I shut the other one.

“That’s the best laugh I've had in ages,” Harrison said with a chuckle.

I took a deep breath and hoped Emilia wouldn't take too long.

Chapter 33

Emilia

I dropped my hand from the door after Cyrus left and suddenly wanted my veil on so I could marry the fuck out of him. Samuel, Connor and Sapphire had already spent some time with me. My little sister was only six and hadn’t seen as much of me because I moved in with my grandparents. It had been so good to catch up with my siblings face-to-face.
