“Daddy—” Makenzie started and then stopped instantly, her face flaming as she stared at Kylie. “I mean, Irish. I?—”

“You don’t have to censor yourself for me,” Kylie said softly. “I will never judge you.”

“I know you wouldn’t, but we’re at work,” Makenzie explained, “It’s unprofessional.”

“When it’s just us, or our kink friendly friends, you don’t have to worry about it,” Irish reassured her. He sat on the edge of her desk and held the phone, which had locked, in front of Kylie. Once Kylie unlocked it for him, he began to read.

“Daddy, you have to believe me. I didn’t do this!” Makenzie pleaded.

He knew she didn’t. The post wasn’t written anything like how Makenzie spoke. “I know you didn’t princess. You aren’t cruel. Is this your old account?”

“I-I don’t know. I mean it’s the profile picture I used, but Jamie has cloned my account before, she made it look like me and they believed her.”

“Who the fuck is Jamie?” Irish asked.

“You didn’t tell him?” Kylie interjected.

“You told me not to…” Makenzie reminded her.

“You told her to hide something from me?” Irish’s eyes snapped up to Kylie. That didn’t sound right. Kylie was big on trust and consent.

“Oh, God. Apparently, the lines got crossed. When she told me about her former,” Kylie paused and looked at Makenzie.

“I told him about him,” she confirmed.

“When she told me about her former Daddy, I told her not to tell you because you would want to hunt him down and hurt him. But it was tongue in cheek. I didn’t realize she didn’t know me well enough to know I was only half being serious.”

“Yes, I do want to tear him limb from limb, you aren’t wrong. Now, who the fuck is Jamie?” Irish asked again.

“You told him about your daddy, but not about the girl who bullied you?” Kylie asked.

“I saw how upset he got over one of them, I didn’t want him to get even more angry. I figured they were in the past and no need to bring them up.”

“Princess, I want to know everything about you. There is nothing too small or old that I’m not interested in.”

“I think I wanted to block it all out, move on and forget about them. Apparently, they are going to keep reappearing in my life…” Irish heard the emotion in her voice, and he became even more angry.

“Give me a second to read this,” he snapped at her. “I’m sorry, princess. I didn’t mean it that way. I’m angry at the situation but not at you.” He looked down at Kylie’s phone and read through the posts that were made from Makenzie’s account and a chill swept through him.

Whoever it was not only posted private screenshot conversations that Makenzie had with other users, they had also posted users real names and addresses. They appeared to be actual screenshots from Makenzie’s inbox. After reading through the posts once, he went back through and read them a second time from a more forensic place.

“It looks like someone hacked your account. These are conversations you had with your friends?—”

“Former friends,” she interrupted bitterly.

“Former friends,” he repeated, allowing her interruption to slide. “All of the conversations are your style of writing. However, the post themselves are not. It’s obvious it's two different people. One, you, who had the convos with the ladies and the second, the one who broke into your account and posted them.” He handed Kylie her phone back. “I’m going to call Jay and see if we can’t get to the bottom of this.”

“But how did they get my new number?” Makenzie asked.

“Who all have you given it to?” Kylie asked her.

“Um besides the people here in Grand Ridge?—”

“No one in Grand Ridge would do something like this,” Kylie said.

“Yeah, what would their motivation be, anyway?” Makenzie asked. “The only other people are my family.”

“No one else?” Irish asked her. “Think hard. Did you change your number on anything that could be public knowledge?”
