“For what?” Draven asked. He took her hand in his and placed a small kiss to the back of it.

A shiver passed through her. “For standing up for me and for just being you.”

She leaned over the console and pulled him to her. She pressed a kiss to his lips and almost melted against him. The kiss was slow, tender, and sweet. Draven’s hand cupped her cheek as the kiss deepened. A moan slipped from her. Even though she was tired, she wasn’t too tired to keep herself from crawling over the console to sit on his lap now.

But she controlled herself.

At least for now.

She eased back slightly. They were both out of breath. Cashea smiled at him. If he didn’t hurry up and get them back to his place, they would have another run-in with the police, and it wouldn’t be for fighting.

“Are you taking me home or not?” she asked haughtily.

He stared at her for a moment before he did something she had never seen him do. He smiled. Her heart skipped a beat at the sight.

“Yes, ma’am.”

Epilogue

Cashea stood on the stage of the Hen House and smiled. The music blared out around her; the girls went to town on the song they had been playing. She danced around and sang the last run of the hook. Tonight was a little special. It had been almost a year since she had approached Draven. She could not believe how fast time had gone by.

Tonight he sat in his same seat at the bar, but only this time he faced her. Her smile widened as their eyes connected. Her heart swelled with love for that man. He was everything she had ever wanted in a man. Tonight she had a special song she was going to sing in front of everyone to help express her feelings for him. A month ago, she hadgiven up her rental house and moved in with him. It hadn’t made sense for them to have two separate residences when she spent most of her time on the ranch with him and his family. She had grown to love the Silver Creek. There was so much to love that she always found something to occupy her time when he was off working.

Everything was going perfectly.

The music changed, and Sara and the girls went right into the next song. The crowd recognized the upbeat track ‘Love You a Little Bit’ by country singer Tanner Adell. It was one of Cashea’s favorites, and tonight, she was going to sing it with a purpose.

She had fallen more than a little in love with this man. She was head over heels in love with him. He had been worried about his flaws and his dark secrets. Some he could share, some he still preferred not to, but that was okay. He was learning to open up. He’d even started taking advantage of the counselors who came out onto the ranch. Cashea was so proud of the strides he’d taken for healing himself.

As much time she had been spending on the ranch and getting to know some of the hands, she could see how much it was needed.

Draven’s eyes didn’t move from her as shesang the song. She smiled and danced around to engage the crowd, but really, she was singing this for him. The tipsy women in the crowd helped her sing the hook at the top of their lungs. She bit back a laugh at how horrible they sounded, but no one cared. They were all having fun.

Once the song came to an end, it was time for their break.

“Don’t go too far. We’ll be back after a short break,” Cashea announced. She put the mic in the stand and followed the girls off the stage.

“Hey, I’ll meet y’all in the back in a little,” Cashea said.

“Sure you will.” Sara giggled.

“We know you are going up there to see your man.” Monica snorted.

“And?” Cashea grinned. She couldn’t help it if she wanted to see him. She hadn’t seen him since early that morning before he’d headed off to work.

“I can’t wait until I can find a man I can be boo’d up with.” Kim sighed.

Lilly placed an arm around her shoulder and led her to the hallway toward the dressing room. “Me and you both, girl.”

Sara and Monica followed them down the hall.Their laughter was drowned out by the DJ blasting a popular song.

Cashea spun around and threaded her way through the crowd. Draven’s gaze found her immediately and held hers until she was close enough for him to snag her by the wrist and bring her into him. She went willing into his arms. His strong embrace was where she belonged. She had missed the feeling of him. It had only been since that morning, but it had been way too long.

“Hey,” Draven murmured. He lowered his head and immediately took her lips in a hard kiss.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and returned it. She pulled back and smiled.

“Hey there.” A sudden shyness came over her. She had just been up on stage singing about how she’d found herself in love with him, and now that she was in his arms, she was all of a sudden shy. Was it too soon to say those three words she’d been dying to say? She didn’t think so.
