“How are you, baby?” he asked.

“You don’t get to call me that,” she answered haughtily. She shifted her purse up on her shoulder and glared at him.

“Don’t be like that. We need to talk.” He came to stand in front of her.

She automatically took a step backward. He apparently chose to ignore her hard stare.

“There’s nothing we need to say to each other.”

“What you have there in the bag?” His gaze dropped down to her hands.

She tightened her grip on the handle. “None of your business.” She sniffed.

He moved closer to her and reached to lay a hand on her shoulder. She retreated away from him, refusing to allow him to touch her.

“I don’t recall you shopping there before.”

“I never had a reason until now.” She rolled her eyes and glanced down at her watch. Maybe he would get the hint.

“What reason is that? You dating someone new—”

“You lost the privilege to know what goes on in my life,” she snapped.

A couple came out of the store nearest them. They cast curious gazes in their direction before continuing past them.

“Listen, I’m not trying to start an argument, Roxxy. I just want to talk to you.” He slid forward quicker than Roxxy could react and gripped her shoulders. “I miss you. I miss us.”

Her muscles stiffened. Gone were the feelings she’d had for him before. There used to be a day when his touch invited butteries to appear in her stomach. Now, there was a sour taste in her mouth. She could remember the day she’d walked in on him with that woman. Roxxy blinked, and the memory faded.

Images of Myles flashed before her, and his hands were the only ones she wanted on her.

“Well, you should have thought about us, before you got with her.” She spun around on her heel but was snatched back by a strong hand on her forearm. Roxxy narrowed her eyes on Korey.

He had lost his mind if he thought he would be able to manhandle her.

“I want to know who you would be shopping for in there,” he demanded, pointing at the lingerie store.

“None of your business,” she ground out. She yanked her arm out of his gasp. “We’re done here.”

Roxxy turned on her heel and rushed to her car. She got in and slammed the door. Her gaze landed on Korey who stood before her car with his hands resting on his hips.

Her heart raced a mile a minute. She started the engine and threw the shift in reverse. She was livid.

How dare he try to act as if she had to answer to him about anything.

She tightened her grip on the steering wheel to keep her hands from trembling.

Her gaze flickered to the rearview mirror, and she prayed she didn’t see Korey behind her.

The road was clear.

She breathed a sigh of relief.

Her cell rang, interrupting her thoughts.

Myles.

“Hello?” she answered, using her hands-free button on her steering wheel.
