“Very nice to make your acquaintance, Isobel,” I said genially. “If my memory serves me correct, you’re one of the models here at ULC, yes?”

Perfectly arched brows drew inward, and a small crease appeared between them. Her already pouty lips poked out even more.

“Excuse me?” she said, voice stiff as if I had somehow offended her.

Gayle had given me a list of the staff members who would be working directly with me on the campaigns, and I was certain I’d seen Isobel’s name on said list.

Still, I asked, “You’re not on the modelling team?”

She lifted her head and replied haughtily, “I’m the lead model here. I’ve done the most campaigns and have the most experience in the modelling industry as a whole.”

I held back a smart retort. That would be bad, seeing as I was her direct boss. Still, something told me this woman was going to be the bane of my existence when it came to working on these campaigns.

“Ah,” I remarked. “Well, it was nice meeting you.”

Ignoring her bewildered expression at being politely dismissed, I stepped to the side and made eye contact with the next person in line. After a few seconds, Isobel took the hint and sashayed off. She would have never made it as a runway model, I noted. She tried way too hard with her walk.
