As they walked out the back door of the club, she leaned over and whispered to him, “Don’t tell Yury what we did.”

Chuckling, Con told her, “I don’t have to. Your hair already did.”

“What?” Her hands flew to her hair. “Why didn’t you tell me my hair was a mess?”

“I think you look great.”

“Shut up, Con.”

Yury held the door open for them. In the car, Criss quickly fixed her hair. On the ride, he’d planned to tell her that they were really going to his house, but she fell asleep a few minutes after Yury pulled out of the parking lot. As they rode, he watched her sleep.

“Are you going to stare at her the whole ride?” Yury asked.

“Mind your business.”

“You’re my business, which makes this my business.”

True. “You were wrong. She does like me.”

“I see.”

“I even told her about my past.”

“You did?”

“I did.”

“How did she take it?”

“She gave me a hug.”

“Really? I guess I misjudged Cristal.”

“I think she can handle my lifestyle. I don’t think she’ll run away when times get hard.”

“Or when people are trying to kill you.”

“That too. I’ll keep her safe. Her and her family. Is Lina still at my house?”

“She is. Did you tell her who Lina is to you?”

“Not yet. I will when we get home.”

“You’re serious about her, aren’t you?”

“She’s mine, Yury. I won’t let her go.”

“Okay, boss.”

Con rested his head against the seat. For the rest of the ride, he watched his woman sleep.

This was not happening.

“Con, why the fuck is my family at your house?”

“Because it’s safer here for them.”

“You can’t just relocate someone’s family.”
