Standing at my left, she pulled the side of my neck until my ear met her lips. “I told Jordan not to mention you saved him on the corner. He understands.”

I stood up straight. “Thanks, Malaysia.”

Dr. Kruger took good care of Jordan.

Malaysia begged me not to buy her anything for Christmas. She said when I saved her brother’s life that was the best present, she could ever wish for. Dinner at Brandon and Zoey’s was a success. Malaysia and Zoey became good friends. My sister, Claire, became Malaysia’s second client. My sister was the second Daniels to make a fortune off of an invention in our family. The moment I was ready for Malaysia to market my brain stimulator, I would become a billionaire. Jordan made a full recovery after several months of physical therapy. My father couldn’t wait to meet with Jordan. The moment he begins classes at Yale, Jordan would work an internship under my father.

TWO YEARS LATER

I stood at the front entrance of the hospital on a cool spring day reading over a patient’s chart. I recently opened my private practice. Opening the practice had been a stressful process. I’d learned more than I needed to know about building codes and zoning. Overall, the practice was one of the best decisions I’d made. I had two surgeries scheduled at Mass General today. My Buddy Brandon didn’t leave Mass Gen. He’ll be the chief there one day. He was on a great path. From time to time I helped out in the ER. Kept the adrenaline pumping. So, did saving the elderly on the streets. However, I scaled back on coming to everyone’s rescue.

“Daddy!”

I stared at the little beauty calling out to me. I dropped to my knees. “Come to Daddy, my little princess!”

Trinity ran as fast as her little legs would carry her. I scooped my baby into my arms. Her hands slapped my cheeks. “Luv you, Daddy.”

“I love you, too, Trinity.”

She was the reason I didn’t run toward danger that often. I needed to be here for her.

“Trinity, you couldn’t wait for Mommy?”

She shook her blonde curls, clapping her hands together. “No.”

I leaned forward, capturing Malaysia’s soft nude lips.

“How do you feel, Mrs. Daniels?”

Her soft hand massaged my cheek. “I feel pretty good.” She blushed.

I placed my large hand against her round belly. “Oh, there’s a kick. He knows it’s Daddy. Are you ready for bed rest?”

“No.” She frowned.

“After the complications with Trinity, it’s important you follow doctor’s orders.”

She crossed her arms over her big belly. “My husband’s doctor’s orders or my doctor’s orders?”

“Both, beautiful. Come on, let’s head to the cafeteria. The nanny will have a week off. I’ll be home to help you next week on your first week of bed rest.”

Trinity’s blue eyes slowly closed as her head rested on my shoulder. Malaysia slipped her hand in mine. We strolled through the bustling halls of the hospital.

I loved spending time with my family. I wasted no time getting Malaysia pregnant or should I say keeping her pregnant. Our path to happiness wasn’t easy. Women tried coming between Malaysia and me, but together we stood as one. Our love was stronger today than it had ever been. I looked forward to growing old with Malaysia Elizabeth Daniels.

THE END
