“You, too,” I replied.
“Dr. Daniels, I will see you around.”
“Yup.”
Dr. Stephens walked down a corridor to my left.
Ethan’s eyes remained on me. “Thanks for lunch.”
“You’re welcome. I wanted to do something nice for you.” My hand instinctively flew over his sexy blond, bearded cheek. “This is new.” I smiled.
“Do you like it?”
“Yes, it looks good on you.” A wave a heat swept through my body.
I snatched my hand away, dropping it at my side.
“Sorry, I didn’t…”
His eyebrows rustled together.
I raised my hand between us. “Ethan, I’m not your girlfriend. We aren’t supposed to have conversations on the phone. That isn’t what OH Occasional Hook-Ups stands for.”
He reached over my shoulder, lightly tugging my ponytail. “I love your hair. It’s beautiful.”
He completely ignored my words.
“Thank you, Ethan.”
“Come with me.”
“Ethan, the driver is waiting.”
He placed his hand along the small of my back. “Malaysia, he gets paid to wait.”
Authoritative and sexy as all hell. Shit, this man… I should probably be honest with myself maybe bringing Ethan lunch was more for me than him. I think, I know, I wanted to be in his presence.
I hesitated. “Ok.”
Ethan and I walked over to the front desk. The receptionist face brightened. “Joellen, can you provide Malaysia with a visitor’s badge?”
“Sure thing, Dr. Daniels.
Sign in, dear.”
I picked up the pen, signing my name on the visitor’s list. “I hope it is ok to say this…” Her eyes darted between Ethan and me.
“Ms. Newton. It’s been a year since I’ve seen Dr. Daniels really smile. When he stepped off the elevator, his face lit up. You must really make him happy.”
I smiled brightly. “Thank you, Joellen, that was nice of you to say.”
Her face lit up.
“Thanks, Joellen. Malaysia will return soon. I’m just going to give her a hospital tour.”
Ethan ushered me into the elevator.
I tried reading his face. “Don’t worry, I won’t ask what she was talking about. But I was wondering. Is there anyway I can use the fitness center in your building?”
