“But not yours. What is it? You don’t date white men?”

“It’s not that. I don’t have time to date. I’m financially assisting my family right now. Maybe one day my knight in shining armor can sweep me off my feet. However, it isn’t now.”

“I understand. I was telling Tim I don’t remember the last time I had the weekend off. My schedule is demanding. I don’t have time for a woman.”

Malaysia pushed her plate forward, bringing her half glass of Cosmo closer. “What about the occasional hookup?” She stared into her glass.

“I’d make time for the occasional hook up with you.”

Her brown cheeks blushed over. She swallowed the remaining contents in her glass.

“You are proposing if tonight ends well we’d occasionally hook up?”

I laughed. “I’m not concerned about things going well.” I sipped my beer.

“Aren’t you a little full of yourself?”

I leaned closer. “Let’s just say I believe you are worth the effort I will put into pleasing you.”

Her eyebrows wrinkled. “Don’t you put forth an effort with all the women you have sex with?”

“No.”

I gulped down the remaining contents of my beer. “Abe, can I get the check, please?”

He pecked away at the computer keys. “Yes!” he yelled over his shoulder.

Abe stepped over, resting the check on the weathered wooden bar.

“Thanks for everything, Abe. Have a good night.” I removed a hundred-dollar bill from my wallet, sitting it on the bar.

“You both do the same.”

I stood, helping Malaysia slip into her coat. I placed my hand on the small of her back, leading her out the bar.

“Jimmy, thanks again. You have a good night.” I opened the passenger door for Malaysia.

She gasped. “Whoa, this is a beautiful car!” She slipped inside.

“Thank you.” I closed the passenger door.

After climbing inside the car, I buckled my seat belt. She did the same.

“I will bring you back in the morning to pick up your car.”

“No need. I don’t have a car. I take public transportation or Uber. I sold my car to help my family.”

I merged into traffic. “I will take you home before I head to the hospital.”

She retrieved her phone from her black purse.

“Where are we going?”

“To my house.”

“What is the address?”

I rattled off my address.
