“I try to keep that side of me from everyone. It’s a hard pill to swallow because Theo took my spot. His life was ruined, and I regret it every single day. I normally never let anyone get close enough to know about Dino or the circumstances behind his death, but you are different. I had to tell you, even though I left parts out. I’m so fucking sorry for all of it.” I caught myself with tears running down my cheeks. I’d kept all those feelings locked away for so long.
“You lied, and I hate that. I don’t like liars, but I find myself wanting to forgive you. I don’t know why, but I do. I don’t let people get close, not after my ex, but I was drawn to something about you. I also know this can’t possibly last,” she admitted.
“Why can’t it?” I asked anxiously as I laced my fingers with hers.
“You’re here and I’m there. It was just a fling, right? Something for the weekend. As much as it hurts to know this won’t last. I’m happy I had this time with you though.” Layla wiped her own tears away.
“This is going to fucking last. Move to Vegas, you can do the same work here if you want to work. We’ll get a sensible home for you to raise your son. Let’s do this. If not, I’ll move there. Whatever you want.” I wasn’t letting go of her, not of the girl who held the magnetic draw that keep me enticed and wanting more.
“Okay, but I’m not sure about moving here just yet. I’d like my son to finish his school year where he is now, and then we can talk about moves.” Layla grinned at me. She was agreeing to this, to us.
I had no words, I only pulled her in close and kissed her deeply. The goddess who’d stolen my heart at my first glance of her was actually mine. There was so much I wanted to experience with her, I wanted to experience life for the first time and it would be with her.
“Are you sure you’re ready for a moody teenage boy?” she asked with a chuckle.
“I’m ready for anything with you by my side, baby,” I announced proudly.
She’d be my wife one day; she’d be my forever. With the roll of the dice, she was mine.
