Chapter 12

Mila opened the closet in her bedroom on Kole’s yacht and stood there, eyeing the clothes. The bag that had been brought to them the day before held a few items, but the closet in front of her was busting at the seams with clothes that were perfect for her. Whoever stocked this room had great taste.

Mila had barely spoken two words to Kole since yesterday’s blow up at his office. His words continued to echo in her mind, and she didn’t know why she couldn’t shake them. She was made tougher than that, and words shouldn’t hurt her, but they did.

Down to her core.

I fucked you, didn’t I?

She let loose a growl and moved to the dresser where a drawer was filled with tiny bathing suits. She wouldn’t let him get to her any longer. She was on a multimillion dollar yacht and she would enjoy the hell out of it. There were many other circumstances that she could be in while laying low, and none of them would have been as luxurious as this.

She untucked her towel and let it fall to the floor. She would go up and sunbathe, and maybe try out the deck Jacuzzi. She’d received a small tour of the two-hundred-foot yacht and had yet to see it all. Denis had informed her that the boat usually had a crew of twenty, but since this was a covert mission, they would only have about ten crew members on board, along with the security team that was in place.

The shipping business must be good for Kole Bozovic.

She rifled through the drawer until she found a cute, black two-piece. She pulled the tag off, noting the designer name, and put it on. She found a white cover dress to pair with it, as well as a pair of sandals. She glanced around the room. It was pure luxury at it’s finest, and stocked with everything she would need. The king size bed had a plush mattress that allowed her to sleep a full night without any discomforts. Everything about the yacht screamed money.

She looked at herself in the mirror and barely recognized herself. Long, flowing blonde hair rested on her shoulders. She gathered a small messenger bag and stuffed it with sunblock, sunglasses, a tablet, and other items she would need while up on deck, and tossed it over her shoulder.

She walked over to the nightstand and opened the top drawer. Inside was her favorite glock. She contemplated whether to leave it. Kole’s men were good, but they weren’t her men. She reached in for her weapon and placed it in the bag, along with an extra clip, and headed out of the room. Her cabin was located on the main deck. She remembered them telling her that the sun deck was a great place to spend time during the day and was where the Jacuzzi was located.

“Ms. Cox,” a male voice called out from behind her. She paused, almost forgetting that Kole had assigned her a new alias. She had found a brand-new passport amongst the items in her room. For now, she would be Kelli Cox, a secretary from Kansas, who was a guest of the shipping tycoon. She turned to find one of the crewmen—a young, tan male with curly brown hair and a pleasant smile, dressed in a white polo shirt and khaki shorts. She remembered meeting him yesterday when boarding, but his name slipped her mind.

“Yes?” she asked, pausing at the foot of the stairs.

“Mr. Bozovic sent me to ensure that you didn’t get lost aboard the ship,” he replied as he walked toward her.

“Why, that was nice of him,” she murmured as he reached her side.

“It would be easy to get lost. Where did you want to go?” His eyes roamed her body, down to her sandaled feet. She knew the look of a man interested in a woman. She didn’t have time for that. She had enough on her hands trying to push Kole out of her mind. Now, she needed to focus on her and getting her life back. The Tokhan Bratva was all that she knew and she needed to get back to her life.

“I wanted to get a little sunbathing in,” she answered, deciding to ignore the look. His expression fell a little, but he recovered quickly with another bright smile.

“Ah, great plan. I can escort you to the sun deck. Please, follow me.” He brushed past her and led the way up the stairs. “By the way, I’m Dave.”

“Thanks, Dave.” She followed behind him as he proceeded to tell her about Kole’s yacht, Seas the Day. She took in the luxurious yacht as they walked up the stairs, then cut through the upper deck. According to Dave, this level of the yacht housed the main saloon, formal dining room, and a few other cabins. Dave guided her over to another staircase that led them directly to the sun deck. Three floors to the yacht. Every floor, her eyes were drawn to Kole’s men that were to secure the boat, but she had yet to see the owner of the magnificent vessel.

“And here we are,” Dave announced, waving his arm toward a set of opened double doors. The sun was inviting to her. She walked out through the open doors and immediately felt relaxed. It had been a long while since she’d had time away from the world to just relax.

Her father’s idea of letting Kole take her was a brilliant plan. Using a shipping tycoon to move her would make it hard for the common assassins to find her. Being out in open water would make it even more difficult for them to find her. She would relax as best she could while knowing that her father, brother, and cousin wouldn’t rest until the hit was removed. But she wouldn’t remain hidden long. There was no way in hell they would go to war without her. No one would stop her from being at her family’s side.

“Wow, this is beautiful,” she breathed, taking it all in. She reached inside the messenger bag and pulled out her oversized, white sunglasses. Her eyes adjusted better to the bright sunlight once they were on her face.

The Jacuzzi came into sight. She walked over to a sunken area of the deck, where the Jacuzzi was surrounded with white cushioned chairs. She lowered her bag onto a chair and gazed out into the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The bright blue water was breathtaking. Not a cloud was in the sky to mar the beautiful picture that surrounded her.

“Is there anything you need, Ms. Cox?” Dave asked.

“A glass of lemon water,” she replied, pulling the dress over her head. He jerked his head in a nod before walking off. She shrugged a shoulder as she sat on the plush chair to remove her sandals. A shadow appeared over her, causing her to jerk her head up.

“Hello, ma’am. I’m Jethro,” a large, burly man announced. She relaxed, recognizing Kole’s man. She glanced down at his hand and recognized the familiar tattoo symbolizing his membership to the Belotov gang. “I’ll be around up here, if you need anything.”

“Stay out of my sun and we’ll be good,” she announced, dismissing the man while she rummaged through her bag in search of her sunscreen.

“Yes, ma’am.” Jethro nodded before he headed to the other side of the deck, leaving her alone.

She pulled out the sunscreen and squirted some into her hands and began applying it to her legs.

“Here’s your water, Ms. Cox.” Dave’s voice appeared next to her. She glanced up and found him standing with a wooden tray.
