“They fucking found us,” my aunt said with gritted teeth. “Or they’re in the area and don’t know we’re here.”

“Oh my god,” I said, my heart pounding hard. “How?”

“I don’t know,” she whispered, her eyes wide in the dark above me. “We need to move again.”

“Wait, let’s talk about it in the morning,” I said, suddenly sitting up. This city was ripe for opportunities, and I wasn’tready to move yet. For a few minutes, we quietly listened to the wolves howling at the moon surrounding our trailer park. But soon, the howling quieted down, and the werewolves had moved on to a new territory.

“Fine,” she said, looking worried as she paced to the window and back. “But you know I’m not dropping this subject.”

“I know, Auntie,” I said. “I just want to plan it better, that’s all.”

Relieved she wasn’t up and packing at that very moment, I tried to go back to sleep. But thoughts of the alphas finding us had made me uneasy and scared to be here anymore. Maybe my aunt was right, and staying here was actually a terrible idea.

Chapter Two

ZAFF

Damn, she was pretty.

I was scrolling through ads and posts looking for a new cleaner, and my eyes stopped on a girl with cornflower blue eyes.

Her brown hair hung in waves around her delicate frame. She was a beauty that I’d never seen before. It was time to get a new maid for our home since I had fired the latest one. Not because she wasn’t good. But because we werewolves needed to stay hidden. If humans paid too much attention to the wolf hairs on our clothes and our run patterns under the full moon, it would be dangerous, and we would be outed.

So, I fired our staff every two weeks or when it was needed.

“Hmm, Breanna,” I said out loud as I read the description of the advertisement. She sounded perfect, and it was time to show my pack.

While holding the phone in my hand, I walked towards the theater where my pack usually convened on their off days.

The sounds of my pack laughing echoed down the hallway.

Chad, Oscar, and Ruston sat on the theater chairs weinstalled in our mansion. We all worked in different businesses, but Ruston made it possible ever since he created an app that generated billions. Their eyes were glued to the movie in front of them, laughing at something on the screen.

“Yo,” greeted Oscar, nodding towards me. He was the shortest but toughest of the pack, with freakishly large muscles and a long, glistening black beard. Since everyone’s eyes were on the screen, I shut it off using the red button on the wall.

“Zaff, what the hell?” said Ruston, pushing up his glasses. “We were enjoying that movie.”

“I have to discuss a potential new hire with you all before I call her,” I said.

“You’re firing someone every day,” said Chad. “Tell us something new.”

I pulled up my phone and walked to their row of chairs. I showed them the picture of the lovely ad I’d come across.

“I can see why you’ve chosen her,” said Oscar, his eyes directed at her pale, luscious breasts nearly spilling out from her shirt.

“She looks good,” said Chad appraisingly, also staring at her picture.

“I don’t really care who you hire,” said Ruston, refusing to look at the gorgeous woman on the tiny screen of my phone. “Just don’t fucking knot her and scare her off.”

I smirked.

“Well, it’s not going to happen anymore,” I said. “The maids keep throwing themselves at me. What is an alpha to do? Ignore them?”

“Exactly, yes,” said Ruston. “That’s what I’d do.”

“I swear I’m not going to rut her,” I said. “We just need someone new to keep the place clean. I wanted to show you guys before I hired her.”

“The biggest lie we ever heard,” said Oscar dryly, and Chad laughed.
