Oh! He…liked it. I do as he asks and touch my tongue to his but this time knowing that he likes it makes me a little bolder, braver. So, this time I stroke my tongue over his. We spend I don’t know how long exploring each other’s mouths before he pulls back from the kiss.

“We’ve got to stop, sweet girl.”

“Did I do something wrong?”

“Absolutely not.” Then why does he want to stop? He won’t even look at me. As if he can read my mind his eyes come back to mine. “You were perfect but if we don’t stop, I’m afraid I’m going to push you farther than you are ready to go.”

Farther than I am ready? He sees my confusion I’m sure because the next thing I know he’s wrapping strong hands around my waist and pulling me into him even more than I already am. It takes a minute for me to realize what I think I feel isn’t something in his pocket. No metal pipe, gun, or anything that could have been shoved down his pocket. My mouth falls into an open ‘o’ of surprise when the realization hits me.

He chuckles before sitting me back in my spot on the couch. It's only then that I remember Tandy is lying right beside me. She could have woken at any time seeing me sitting in Grayson’s lap. What was I thinking? How could I have been such a badsister? How did I let things go so far and how much farther would I have let them go if he hadn’t stopped us?

Chapter Ten

Grayson

I can already tell she is overthinking our kissing marathon. But is that going to stop me? Not at all. If I have to give her a little more time to be comfortable with all of this and all that I want with her then so be it.

“How about you let me take you guys home tonight?”

“Oh, um, no, but thank you. I have to be up way early tomorrow and wouldn’t feel right about having to make Candy or Lolly come go out of their way just to pick me up.”

“I can take you to work tomorrow too.”

“But…,” I watch as she searches around for something to say that will get her out of this. “It’s very early and it wouldn’t be fair to you since tomorrow is one of your days off. You should really rest and, um, sleep in?”

The last part comes out as a question more than a statement.

“It would make me feel better if you let me take you. I wouldn’t have to worry about you and Tandy getting home safely. The two of you already fell asleep once tonight and I can tell you guys are still tired.”

“I wouldn’t want you to go out of your way…,”

I cut her off, “But you are still tired. And you wouldn’t want me to worry about you, right?”

“Well, no. But…”

“Great. I’ll grab my keys and carry Tandy out if you want me to.”

“I don’t… the car seat…”

“You’re right, we’ll have to switch that over first. Come and help me… if it’s alright to leave Tandy here.”

By the time I carry Tandy out to the car and buckle her into her car seat which I switched over from Bonny’s car to mine my sweet little bunny is in full flight mode.

She looks back at where Tandy is still sleeping. She briefly woke up for about a second while I was scooping her up but then snuggled up against me and went back out of it. “We, um… we probably shouldn’t do that again.”

“What again?” I fight the smile that wants to tug at my lips. She’s a worrier, my little bunny.

“The, um,” another glance behind her, “the kiss.” She whispers it but she’s loud enough I can hear her.

“You don’t want to kiss me again. Is it because I wasn’t good at it?”

“What? No! That’s not it at all. I… just think maybe we shouldn’t, um, do it again.”

“Did you like it?”

“Yes, but that’s the problem.” I like how she didn’t hesitate on the yes. “We… I don’t know what I’m doing, and I don’t think I’m alright with being... I mean, you must have a lot of girls to kiss and I don’t think...”

“I’ve not kissed a girl in a long time… years actually.” She frowns over at me and I can’t imagine what is going through that beautiful brain of hers. I don’t have to wait long to find out though.
