“Either your glamma or g-mama took him. I’m not complaining because I rarely have two free hands to feed myself and I’m starving.”

“Get some food.” I pat her on the back and continue my search from beside her.

Jazzy takes a plate and loads it with a variety of options. She moved into the bungalow and seems to be happy about working with me on my new project with Studio Z97.

“I think we’ll have to stage an intervention. I overheard your glamma talking about Easton and Yasha as a future couple,” Jazzy says, stealing my concentration.

“Jazzy, you know I can’t win when that woman has her mindset. It’s on you to put your foot down and nip her machinations in the bud.”

“Girl, not even the witness protection program will stop her from matchmaking our kids. Just throw in the towel. We can’t beat her.”

“No, there is a way. Before they start school, you’ll just have to move to another country. I hear Singapore is an awesome place to raise kids.”

Jazzy shakes her head and leaves me standing alone without responding to my perfectly reasonable suggestion. From the corner of my eye, a shade of bright pink flashes by. With all the children here, it’s difficult to determine if it’s my Yasha or someone else’s child.

I don’t mind admitting that my daughter is the cutest here. If the adults vying to hold her is anything to go by, they are in perfect agreement with me. The massive game of hot potato they play with my daughter is the main reason I’m having difficulty finding her.

A hand wraps around my waist from behind. I smile as Cameron’s familiar scent engulfs me. He lowers his mouth to my ear. “Little lamb, how about you we take advantage of all these adults here and go find a quiet corner?”

I shiver like I always do at his seductive purr. “Just let me find out who has Yasha first, then I’m all yours.”

“Alright then, I’m coming with you. I won’t risk someone else distracting you and missing my chance.”

I elbow his stomach. “Then put that superior height of yours to use and find our baby for me.”

He peers above everyone’s head. “Found her.” A strange note strains his voice. “I can’t tell what’s happening, but I think our Yasha needs an immediate rescue mission. Onyx has Yasha on her hips surrounded by half of Salas’ fangirls. I can’t tell what they’re doing, but it can’t be good.”

I squeeze closer to him and lower my voice. “We have to sneak up on them, or else we’ll never know what Glamma is plotting.”

“It will be difficult. She’s got lookouts everywhere.” Cameron swivels his head, then stops and stares at a point out of my view. “Follow me, I’ve got an idea.”

We sneak around, narrowly evading the fangirls on high alert. As we close the distance, I hear Glamma’s voice.

“Alright, ladies, it’s about time for the new countdown. You’ve got three chances to win big: date, gender, and weight.” Glamma shifts Yasha to her left hip.

Ms. Gerdy taps a roll of money against the table. “I don’t know Onyx. Is there a point to trying, even if the odds are good? You won the pot for the wedding and Yasha’s birthday.”

Cameron and I exchange an alarmed glance.

“I won’t pressure you, Gerdy, but don’t blame me when you miss out.” Glamma raises Yasha in the air.

My daughter gnaws on her fist.

“Okay, I’m in—”

“Glamma… what on earth is going on here?”

With all the confidence in the world, she turns to me with a smile. Meanwhile, Ms. Vivian scrambles to hide the records of the bets the women already placed.

“Don’t overreact, Kiwi. We’re just discussing how long before we welcome my next great-grandchild.” Glamma blows raspberries on Yasha’s cheeks to her delighted laughter. “You want your parents to work on getting you a new sibling, don’t you, my little peanut?”

Cameron and I avoid looking the ladies in their eyes or at each other. I have no doubt Glamma knows about my husband’s plans for me and a quiet corner away from everyone.

“Wait, you knew when Yasha would be born before I told you I was pregnant? And you took bets? On our”—I lower my voice so only Glamma could hear me—“Sex life?”

“Don’t be such a prude, Kiwi. With the way you two kept at each other, it was hardly difficult to guess when this little angel was going to make her debut.”

“Stop teasing them, Nixey.” Pedro kisses Glamma’s cheek and takes Yasha from her. “You know not everyone can handle your particular brand of meddling.”
