“Get her,” the fake Melody snarled.

My dad whipped out a green tractor beam and it hit me on my side before I could dive out of the way. “Your mother never gave me a damn cent, no matter how many times I begged her. But you, little lamb, are worth your weight in gold.”

“You.” I squeezed out, grateful he didn’t turn the beam on full force, and I could move my head and jaw. “You sold me out to the Roulex?”

The fake Melody morphed into a blond woman with light-scaled skin. “Of course, he did. He knows a good bargain for his addiction.”

“Thank you, Sofria.”

My Melody raced toward me. “Leave her alone, you bitch.”

Sofria leapt forward, wrenching the dagger from my waistband, and driving it into Melody’s chest.

“No!” I screamed as blood blossomed across her yellow shirt.

“I’ll take her now.” Sofria held out her hand for the device and my dad handed it to her with a glee on his face.

“Do I get my reward now? You promised me some more when we got her.”

“Of course.” Sofria smirked at me and then spun. With the dagger in her hand she sliced across my dad's throat and he fell to his knees, gargling blood.

I struggled against my restraints, watching as my dad fell to his knees, gargling blood.

“You cost me everything,” Sofria snarled. “But I will be promoted when we get back to the prison.”

“Fuck you.” I glared at her. “I would rather die.”

“Oh, you will. After you’ve been bred until your body can’t give birth anymore and we cut the last baby from your wound.”

“And with your babies, we can uncover the Angeliminirs secrets.” She morphed into a copy of me. “Why isn’t Xaden here? Should I call for him?”

“Don’t you fucking touch him!” I yelled.

“No.” She chuckled. “That will be for later, after I get you back and I come stumbling out here looking like you. I assume that with his injuries, Xaden is still healing? Yes, I’ve been around him through all his tortures. I know how long each beating takes for him to recover. And by my calculations, he’ll wake in three more days.”

I screamed. But I knew the Angeliminir wouldn’t come rescue me. I was one human and despite my pregnancy, none of them owed me anything.

A whoosh sent my hair flying in my face.

“Don’t touch her.” Ximena stood between me and Sofria.

Jax landed next to her along with Trox and a few other warriors.

“How cute. You made friends.” She grinned. “So did I.”

Several Roulex ships popped into the sky above us.

“Fly, go!” I screamed.

Green tractor beams punched the ground around me, but none of the Angeliminir moved.

“It’s a trick!” Sofria screamed. Then she dragged me toward the closest ship, my body going right through Ximena’s like she was a ghost.

A roar bellowed behind me and a dark flash knocked Sofria and me down. The tractor beam knocked out of her hand and I was free. I scrambled to get up when arms pulled me to a muscled chest and I screamed, kicking.

“This brings back old memories,” Xaden murmured in my ear.

“Xaden,” I breathed out, trying to turn in his arms.
